Last weekend i had the opportunity to attend Vancouver’s One of a Kind Show.  I went  in pure curiosity and it paid off.  I met several amazing designers and tried to resist spending money but I lost that battle.  I found numerous designers I felt were worth mentioning here that I thought I would break this down into a 4 part piece.  Today I’m going to focus on clothing designers but there will be posts on jewelry, fine art, and one special post on a fun gift.  For this post….New Clothing Designers!

1. Yasime Louis

Yasmine silk screens shirts, t-shirts, collared shirts, hoodies with simple unique drawings and fun sayings.  For example the one I bought is a ballet style shirt w/ the saying, ” Sometimes I Just Love TV so much.”  Others say things like, “I didn’t call.”  or “I couldn’t find a pen, I lost my thoughts”.  I immediately loved the stylish simplicity of the designs and the fact that all the shirts were quite soft.  Yasmine is based in Toronto and you can only purchase her shirts or pillows at shows or directly from her.  But I would keep an eye out for her designs and if you’re ever in Toronto go look her up!

2.  Luved Clothing -

Are these wonderfully wrap style coats, shawls, and scarfs which look warm and very comfortable but stylish.  According to their site their mission is:

You can purchase their clothing at shows or at retail stores in Canada but I’m sure if you contacted them u might be able to get something shipped.  Maybe.  I really want the “Lauren” or the scarf with a hood attached.  That would be great under my coat which doesn’t have a hood.

3.  Ole Originals

Ole is designed by Chandler Ole Herbut and are vintage designs silk screened onto the softest t-shirts, hoodies, cardigans you could ever find.  From their site:

Why Ole you ask? Ole was the nickname of my grandpa from Sweden and my great grandpa. My parents gave me Ole as my middle name to pay homage to our family’s past, so I felt it was an appropriate name for my company which is inspired by history.

Before I created Ole I found it very difficult to find clothing that was tastefully designed, nicely fitted and of good quality. And when I did I’d often see someone else wearing the same thing! My designs are all limited editions with a vintage look that is subtle yet still distinctive. When you wear Ole you’re original!

They do have a limited Etsy store where you can purchase some items or you can find them at other art shows.  Which includes the Make it! show being held in Vancouver on Nov 20 – 22.  The show will feature Ole Originals as well as dozens of other incredible designers in all fields.  It’s a hip, modern, and funky take on the craft fair.  I will definitely be there!
