Irritable Bowel Syndrome

I was recently (about a week and a half ago) diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrom- Constipation Predominant. Are there any girls on here who are coping with the same disease? It gets very difficult and I was wondering what everyone else does to make their days go by easier and with less pain.

I have only had IBS a few times but the pain is horrible. One thing i find that helps is a heat pad and as weird as this sounds because of the air bubbles caused by IBS rolling back and forth on the floor(from side to side) helps relive pain. Those are what i have found helps, if i find anything else i will let you know. hang in there hun
I understand what you are going though. I was diagnosed with Colitis about 5 year ago.
It is not easy to have pain like that. There are just some things that you need to deal with.
I take advil whenever I have pain.
My doctor thought that i had IBS until I found that i was gluten intolerant
i would suggest trying a diet without foods that are common causes of similar symptoms (gluten, lactose, yeast, potato)
also go to a natropath, they might have a remidy that can help ease or prevent the pain from occuring
i have IBS use to be Crohns but they down grade it it use to be so bad but when i have flares all i can do is sleep nothing helps it =[
I suffer from it but mines caused by stress and I get diaohrea (disgusting).
I've found that heat pads and the such are really good for it.
Tablets very rarely help me.
If I do get it, I find going in the bath really helps aswell. It helps relax you and takes away some of the pain.
I honestly don't know what else to recommend
i have it too,it gets worse with stress, and i find it helps if you keep a food diary and the symptoms you have during a day, you can make the link with certain foods causing damage. i cant eat fruit or anything acidy, onions, or cheese and yoghurts and a lot of bran cause it to flare up as well. peppermint tea is great for calming it!!
I have IBS and for over a year I would have daily pains that were so bad I literally stopped eating and would only eat something when I felt that I had to or else I was going to pass out. My stomach would act up worse when I was away from home (due to the added stress of not being home where I can spend how ever long in the bathroom I want) but now when my stomach starts to hurt I breath through it and mentally talk myself through it I tell myself "what are you so worried about? worse comes to worse you will spend some time in the bathroom, almost everywhere you go has a bathroom so calm down and you'll be fine." This really helps calm me down and makes my stomach pains go away.
i do the same thing!
I had a Doctor tell me I had IBS and it ended up just being lactose intolerance. Pay attention if you are clearing your throat after drinking/eating milk or if it acts up worse afterward. Remember milk is put in odd things like hot dogs and breaded chicken. You may truly have IBS but just in case, keep lactose intolerance in mind.
aw sweetie, i've had the same thing for about a year now. it's miserable, i know. my doctor prescribed me MiraLax. it's a dissolvable powder you can put in any drink, and it really helps clear you out:) your supposed to take a full cap twice a day for three days, then reduce the amount to about half, or what works for you so your not going to the bathroom so much. you can take it like this as long as you need/doctor tells you. it takes a while, but eventually you'll feel better, i promise. :) just ask your doctor about it!
also, FiberOne stuff, like the granola bars and the cereal, really help. :)
i had IBS quite bad when i was younger, but mine went away as i cut out fresh cream, whole milk etc. and that really helped me. now i just get the occasional affect from it.
but when you do have pain i suggest a hot water bottle and some easy exercise may help.
and avoid stress that can also be a trigger. hope this helps :D
I Still Have IBS. Though I Get It When I Eat Food That Has Wheat In. And As You CAn Guess That Is Pretty Much Everything! I Struggled AndCOulodn't Get Off My Bedroom Rug For 2 Hours As The Pain Was UnBearable. It Got SO Bad That I Stopped Eating - And Trust Me NEVER EVER EVER EVER Do This. I Fainted As I Had Eaten Nothing For 3 Weeks. Lie In Bed For One Day And Relax. And Get Plenty Of Sleep.
Hopee This Helpedd x
I have Crohns Disease and I use to avoid wheat, dairy and soy. I went to a holistic dr to figure out what I should avoid. I also found out that if you combine the treatments of the medical drs and the holistic drs it helps. Unfortunately I found out the hard way that if you don't take your meds you can end up in the hospital for three weeks with a tube up your nose and a pick in your arm. Be careful, its serious and should be taken that way. When its under control, life will be smooth sailing.
