The warm weather has arrived... have you thought about your summer travel plans?  We recently featured this article on Momologie and hope it helps you. Summer vacations are the stuff lifelong memories are made of. Now that Memorial Day has come and gone, the summer season will pass us by at a fast pace, so now is time to plan your travel with the kids, if you haven’t already.  We’re fans of classic summer vacation locales known for their picturesque scenery and great attractions. Here are some of our favorites...

Nantucket

Everything that is wonderful about New England, history, culture, boutiques, galleries, cuisine and beaches is found on this small island where you can walk cobblestone streets and explore for hours on end. For hundreds of years, visitors have been enjoying beaches, bike paths, buttery lobster rolls, and island charm guaranteed to linger in your memory for years to come. Enjoy spectacular sunsets at Madaket Beach, take the kids to Surfside or Jetties Beach for a picnic, and see the historic sights withThe Cottages at the Boat Basin as your headquarters. The cottages, located around Nantucket's historic downtown area, are ideal for families, because they have kitchens and can accommodate up to eight people.

Chicago

If your idea of a vacation is the big city, Chicago has just the right mix of Midwestern hospitality and world class attractions right on beautiful Lake Michigan. Start with Shedd Aquarium, one of the most engaging, inspiring and entertaining aquariums in the world. Then visit The Field Museum, among the finest institutions dedicated to art, archeology, science and history. Around the summer holidays, you’ll find special events all over town, including parades, fireworks, air shows and the ever popular Taste of Chicago in July.  Stay at the hip Hotel Burnham  where they know how to keep wee ones entertained with special offers such as tea at American Girl Place Cafe or package deals at the museums and theaters.

The Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon is the granddaddy of all vacation attractions in America.  Since the early 1900s, train travel has been a significant part of the experience in this must-see destination. Take your family back in time with a stay at The Grand Canyon Railway Hotel in Williams as part of a complete package that includes roundtrip passage aboard the Grand Canyon Railway, lodging, meals and a motor coach tour at the park. The historic train has been taking tourists to the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park since 1901, and is a good way to avoid much of the summer tourist crush.

Chicago?? Really?? Chicago was rated number 10 in Forbes' 20 most miserable cities in America.

Chicago is one of the best cities! There is so much to do - great restaurants, shopping, entertainment not to mention the people are truly the nicest. Forbes may be a trusted resource but for young women I 100% say go visit there if you haven't been.

Ya I also disagree with Chicago, It's one of the most violent crimes cities....(rapes and murders) which is a huge reason it didn't get to host the Olympics. I've got a couple friends that are moving out of Chicago and one from there, they all have the same complaint, rude vulgar people... If you want to go somewhere nice, Savanna GA, Hilton Head, Myrtle Beach SC, some parts of Main.

I lived in the Chicago area for a year in 2008, and I have to say, having traveled quite a bit around the US, Chicago truly is one of the most beautiful places I've been in the USA. It has nearly everything you could possibly want, plus it's spotless clean and the people are the friendliest. There are PARTS of Chicago that are dangerous, of course, like in any major city... guess that's where the previous posters must have gotten their assumptions from.

Assumptions?? Seriously, I was surprised, I was not assuming anything. You assume I know nothing about America, I too have traveled I went on a two month road trip starting in Daytona Beach, to Mexico, to Niagra Falls and ending back in Daytona. I lived in major cities my whole life Tampa Bay, Cairo Egypt, Riyadh KSA, Daytona Beach FL, Atlanta GA and Dallas TX.

Just stating what I read in a Forbes article contrary to this one.

There's no reason for anyone to get worked up about this... If you don't like the cities or destinations posted in this article then maybe suggest some other places. I personally love Chicago but that's just me and I LOVED this article!!!

OMG I absolutely LOVE Nantucket and Chicago... You ladies are spot on with vacation suggestions! Great article!
