The New Must-Have Handbag

I remember when I was a little girl, my mom always carried one of those handbags with the long straps. When my sisters and I played dress-up, we would borrow her large selection of purses and pretend we were adults. When I got to a mature age and required a purse of my own, the style she used to carry seemed to mom-like. At the time, people my age were carrying bags with shorter straps, like Kate Spade, or bags with just handles. The long strap was out of style.

As always with fashion, however, things come back (please, can we bring the overall back? sooo comfy!). And lately, designers are creating a handbag that has both the long shoulder strap and short handles. Personally, I think its fabulous. You can either wear the bag over your shoulder or hold it on your wrists.

Foley + Corinna makes several cute styles. Jack Rabbit makes a real smart and sophisticated looking one called the "Concord." But my favorite is Gustto's "Andrea" bag from their Fiore Collection. Breathtaking!

I really like that style of handbag, but then I always end up putting a bunch of junk in it! Any advice for that?

A friend of mine gave a good piece of advice which was to not put anything in there I don't absolutely need. At the time I laughed and shrugged it off b/c it sounded so obvious. However, it actually stuck, has helped me a lot & made me realize how many unnecessary things I would wind up toting around :)

I like to use small cosmetics bags for my stuff- one for makeup, one for personal items like medicine and tampons- then I have my wallet, keys, the two little bags, and the cell phone. I clean it out every day when I get my clothes ready for the next day, and it keeps my bag from getting cluttered. It's just making it part of your routine.

I was just in Thailand and overalls (the kind that are shorts not pants) are back if that makes you feel any better. Maybe the trend will come to the US ( I love overalls too :D :D).
