Every year, AskMen.com conducts the “Great Male Survey” with results from 50,000 men. They covered life in 2012, specifically the economy and even the presidential candidates, as well as men’s lifestyles, but most importantly, they discussed dating and relationships!These are all the cold, hard facts that just might make your head spin.

70% of men answered ,“Yes, I believe it (marriage) is a necessary institution and one in which I will participate to help preserve.”

Men in the U.S. are even more optimistic with 79% answering yes. (Yay!)

It seems like guys are actually pretty honest. When asked if there were no chance of being caught, how likely would they be to cheat on their partner, 37% answered “Not very likely. I might be tempted, but I love and respect her too much.”

But they’re not always so sweet. 54% of men (and 65% of U.S. men) admitted they would dump a girlfriend if she became fat. WTF!

When it comes to relationships, the one thing most guys (33%) agreed that they wish they could change about their partner is her nagging. (Guys, we wouldn’t nag if you just did things correct the first time we asked. Just saying.)

I personally agree with this next sentiment. When asked which personality trait was most important out of 4 choices listed (a sense of loyalty, a sense of humor, intelligence, and a sense of caring/nurturing) when deciding if a woman was relationship material, the top choice with 36% was a sense of loyalty. I mean, don’t you always want your partner to have your back?

Speaking of their girlfriend preferences, the guys were also asked which female celebrity they would want their girlfriend to be more like:

51% Emma Stone (So we’re not the only ones who love her!)
20% Kate Upton (Not so surprising…)
16% Tina Fey
9% Kim Kardashian
4% Nicki Minaj

It seems like we’re not the only ones over Kim Kardashian, 63% of men agree that she is the female public figure they are most tired of hearing about.

Speaking of celebrities, 35% of men said they would vote for George Clooney if he were running for president.

Wondering what number of sex partners you’ve had might start bothering your guy? 43% answered if you’ve slept with more than 10 partners previously.

When dating, real life will always trump social media and men agree. 83% answered that when courting a woman they will conduct most of their approach and correspondence in real life. Now that you know the facts, don’t hold out for the guy who just randomly texts.
