25 Days of Holiday DIY: Peppermint Candy Cane Sugar Scrub

While our culture might have you believeing otherwise, the holidays aren't all giving expensive gifts. In fact, it truly is the thought that counts. That's why we're bringing you 25 days of inexpensive gift and decor DIYs so you can create a special something for your loved ones and decorate your place without breaking the budget.
This peppermint candy cane scrub is perfect for all the ladies on your list, and would make the perfect hostess gift, too. The tutorial and images below are originally from The Idea Room, which actually has lots of other great DIY gift ideas, too.
To make, simply combine two cups of white granulated sugar with 1/4 cup to 1/3 cup almond oil (or coconut oil). Add the oil slowly until you have a nice consistency that is soft, but not too oily. Then mix in a few drops of peppermint essential oil.
After thoroughly mixing the ingredients, split the scrub equally between two separate containers. Add red coloring to one half of the scrub with a little bit of food coloring, or even using raspberry juice for an organic red colorant.
Make a large funnel out of a piece of paper (a small one will not allow enough room for the sugar scrub to pass through it) and add a small amount into a jar. Press the sugar down lightly so that the sugar is even.
Then add a white layer so that they are about the same height and flatten it. Continue back and forth with as many layers and as thick or thin a layer you would like until the container is full.
Finish with a label, pretty bow, or ribbon for special detailing. So adorable, right?!
