1. Get Outside
According to research from the University of Rochester, people who spend at least 20 minutes a day outdoors felt they had up to 20 percent more physical and mental energy than those who stayed inside thought they did.
2. Commit to Cardio
Getting in some cardio doesn’t have to be a formal workout, sports like soccer or dodgeball can raise your heartbeat to 88 percent of your maximum and burn 160 calories in just 20 minutes. Working out can actually be fun, girls.
3. Have a Ball
Swap out your desk chair for a stability ball for at least 20 minutes of every hour spent at your desk. The ball will strengthen your core muscles as constantly try to maintain balance. Plus, an added benefit is that it will alleviate a common side effect of too much sitting: back pain.
4. Stay Standing
Next time your mom calls, instead of putting your feet up, stay standing. This little trick won’t feel like exercise, but you can burn over 50 calories during a 20-minute conversation. A small change, but burning an extra 100 calories a day will keep you on track for greater weight loss.
