While it’s a little too early to start rocking fall’s fashion trends (this is definitely not sweater weather) you can take a cue from the beauty trends that are sure to be everywhere this fall. You’re such a fashionista you’ll be a step ahead of everyone else. Here’s the 5 beauty trends we’re most excited for.

1. Messy Manes

Messy, voluminous hair is the perfect transitional hairstyle to take you from the beach to the pumpkin patch. Instead of using a salt spray to achieve your textured tresses, bust out the mousse. Even if you haven’t touched the stuff since the 90’s, trust us, and try today’s mousse products that are anything but crunchy or drying. Tresemme’s hairstylist John D even recently claimed it was his favorite product. To achieve the perfectly disheveled strands apply mousse to damp hair and allow it to air dry. Use your fingers to twirl random pieces and lightly scrunch up your strands, too. If you’re lucky enough to have naturally curly hair, then let it shine, girl!

2. Beautiful Browns

Nothing amps up the sex appeal like a smoky eye, but greys and blacks can be harsh against some skin tones. Luckily, this fall takes flattering neutrals, like taupe eye shadow, and makes them hot by layering on chocolate shades. Use your favorite cocoa and bronze shadows to cover your lids. Apply a dark brown or black eyeliner and make sure to smudge it for best results. Don’t worry about messing up this universally flattering color, we promise you’re gonna look smoking hot!

3. Statement Hair Accessories

There’s been a touch of whimsy popping up everywhere in fashion lately, and the newest product is statement hair accessories. I’m sure you’ve noticed the flower headband DIY’s everywhere, and now the trend is continuing through to fall. Take your hair from the usual to the unique with princess-worthy or retro headbands and ornate clips. Small pieces like these allow you to update your look without busting your budget. Plus, when it comes down to it, fashion should be fun, so enjoy these playful accessories.

4. Long, Lean Hair

On the opposite spectrum of the crazy, curly hair, silky straight hair will be in this fall as well. Summer’s fashion always includes flirty florals that lend themselves to romantic, wavy hair, but once the weather cools, fashion tends to toughen up and this season is no exception. Nothing pairs with badass statement jackets and leather quite like pin-straight hair. To achieve shiny, straight strands start in the shower with a smoothing shampoo and a lightweight conditioner. Use a flat (instead of round) brush while blow drying to keep from creating too much volume. Then finish with a flat iron to create pin straight strands. Protect your hair while banishing frizz and flyaways with a hair serum like Dove’s.

5. Reverse Ombre

Just when you thought ombre was on its way out, it’s back! Instead of the dark roots with light ends looks we’ve been seeing for seasons, the style is reversed for fall. Adding a dark hue to your locks always kicks up the drama. Plus, if you missed out on the ombre trend the first time around, now you’ve got your second chance. The runway looks were over-the-top as always, but this style is very doable if you stick within two to three shades darker than your natural color.
