Let’s be honest, whether you love or hate Kimye, you have to admit, going on a double date with either of the couples would be a blast. Even though that’s never going to happen, it doesn’t mean you can’t have some badass double dates of your own. And, it almost goes without saying, you definitely don’t need the income of celebs to have some fun. Even if you’re not a fan of group dates, you’ll find one you can’t wait to try in the list below. Double dates are an easy way to catch up with friends while still squeezing in some QT with your beau. Plus, there’s usually less pressure for things to go perfectly when you’re hanging out with a group of pals. Here’s our list for 5 new fun options that won’t break the bank.

Go on a Food Crawl

Pick a fun neighborhood in your city with a lot of restaurants that you want to get to know better. Start with appetizers at one end of the neighborhood, then head to another restaurant for entrees, then desserts as you move your way along different restaurants in the area. It’s a fun way to try out several new places in just one evening, and you could even save a few bucks by splitting dishes.

DIY Tournament

Working with a strict budget? Visit your fave local pool hall and hold a mini-tournament. You can challenge each other as girls vs. boys, or couple vs. couple. Whoever loses, buys the next round. If pool isn’t your thing, try darts, foosball, skeeball, or whatever you want.

Host a Wine Tasting

Attending a wine tasting can get pricey, so recreate an inexpensive version at home. Ask each person or couple (if you have a larger group) to bring a bottle of their favorite wine. Take turns sampling each one and nibble on some easy to make cheese and cracker trays. Afterwards you can all discuss what you liked most about each wine.

Do a Different Kind of Dinner Party

Hosting a dinner party is fun, but usually stressful, and sometimes feels too formal. To keep things casual and fun, ask the other couple(s) to bring over ingredients for their favorite dish, and have them whip it up in your kitchen as you make yours. You’ll all get to work together and chat, while making something tasty. Bonus points if you each make your own favorite cocktail, it’ll set a fun tone for the night.

Go to an Outdoor Concert

If you’re living near any larger city, it’s likely the town will host free concerts while the weather is nice. Cincinnati, for example, holds free entertainment, from concerts and DJ’s every Friday and Saturday night at our Fountain Square, downtown. It’s a great way to get involved with what your city has to offer, plus it’s free of charge. All the money you’re saving will come in handy for some brews at the show.
