Sometimes it’s the simple things than can make a huge impact. When it comes to beauty, your evening regime might be slacking. So, we’ve compiled 6 really easy tips to follow so you can wake up looking refreshed and even more so gorgeous than usual.
1. Lather Up Before Laying Down
One of the worst things you can do to your skin is to hit the hay without removing that day’s makeup. Basically, it ages your skin twice as fast. Leaving on makeup overnight, clogs your pores and creates a breeding ground for bacteria. When you cleanse your face before bed it allows your skin to naturally repair and restore itself.
2. Moisturize, Moisturize!
Keeping your skin moisturized starts with hydrating yourself internally by drinking loads of water, and you’ll look even better if you apply lotion before bedtime. Slather the moisturizer on your legs, arms, and definitely your face to wake up with soft, healthy, glowing skin.
3.Sleep on Your Back
This is a tough one for me, because I almost always sleep on my stomach; however, studies show that sleeping on your side or stomach causes wrinkles. To prevent the constant smushing of your face against pillows and the wrinkles it creates sleep on your back. Plus, it’s actually better for your breasts too.
4. Sleep on Silk
If you can’t sleep at all on your back, you should definitely try using silk pillowcases to lessen the effects of sleeping on your side. Since silk is smoother, it prevents wrinkles from forming as quickly and will also prevent your hair from turning into a lion’s mane.
5. Pull Your Hair Up
Pulling your hair up also prevents it from becoming a tangled mess by morning. If you wrap your hair in a satin scarf, it will stay frizz-free. If you’re trying to maintain a blow-out, keep your hair in a high ponytail overnight. If you want to create easy waves, try braiding damp hair before bed, then untie them for loose waves in the morning.
6. Use Overnight Treatments
Since your face is freshly cleaned, feel free to really slather on the creams and serums you use. This is a perfect time to indulge in a thick eye cream, even if you’re not worried about wrinkles yet, it will help reduce the look of bags and tired eyes. Plus, there are many overnight hair treatments you can try out too, like L’Oreal’s Overnight Repair Treatment to repair split ends.
What’s your evening beauty regime like? I love moisturizing right before bed, even more so when I use a lotion with a calming scent. What are your tips to wake up feeling extra beautiful?
