Reading is one of my favorite hobbies. I simply love getting caught up in story; it’s like another world. But there are so many times after I finish a book that I wonder just what to pick up next (besides whatever title my book club has chosen). I always wonder what my friends are reading, or if I really liked a particular book, what would be similar.

Enter Goodreads. Goodreads is a free website for book lovers. I like to picture it as a large library that you can wander through and see everyone's bookshelves, their reviews, and their ratings. And the reviews are better than at Amazon or Barnes and Noble because you don’t have people complaining about the price or silly things like that. You can also post your own reviews and catalog what you have read, are currently reading, and plan to read in the future. Don’t stop there – join a discussion group, start a book club, contact an author, and even post your own writing.

You start with shelves of any category (Fantasy, Romance, ect.) that you can add books you’ve read or want to read. Then the site will help you find new and interesting books by letting you see what your friends are reading. Whenever you view a book, you always see your friends’ reviews first. You can also compare your book list to that of another Goodreads member to see if you share the same taste and can trust their recommendations.

Goodreads is like the library mixed with Facebook mixed with a literary review. Totally addicting for the bookworms out there just like me!
