Here at Girls Guide, we want to help you. But, we also want to challenge you. Go on, step outside of your comfort zone.

One easy way to do so is to dress outside of your usual attire. Fashion is just one of many forms of self-expression, but I firmly believe if you try new trends you weren’t sure you could rock, you’ll learn to cultivate a style, both in your attire and other ways, that’s all your own.

We’ll be featuring trends to inspire you to shake up your basic wardrobe. But, don’t worry, we’ll be here to guide you along the way.

First off, we dare you to wear: Printed Pants.

It’s all about baby steps, ladies. First, start wearing any printed bottoms, such as skirts, shorts, or denim, with whatever makes you feel comfortable. I promise the compliments on your slightly daring look will come pouring in. So much so, that you’ll be convinced you can and will pull off this trend on an even greater scale.

While shopping for your printed pants, don’t be discouraged if you don’t find the right pair immediately. It’s important to choose something that compliments your body as well as your pre-existing wardrobe.

A great option is to start with a black and white pair of pants. They’re graphic and bold, but will work with so much you’ve already got in your closet.

It might surprise you, but yes these pants can be worn to work. Obviously, it depends on the dress code at your office, but they can be toned down enough to be professional.

Just add basic black pumps, a white button down, and a wardrobe must-have, a fitted blazer. Whether you opt for black or a bright color is your choice.

Since the pattern is busy, keep jewelry simple and add just a small pop of color in a bracelet or ring.

To transition the pants for the beach or a backyard BBQ, wear them with the rest of your casual favorites. White tanks and tan sandals are great neutrals to tone down the print of the pants, so you won’t look like you’re trying too hard.

Try playing off the “theme” of the pants to inspire the rest of your outfit.

The base of this ensemble is the floral printed pants. Since florals are soft and girly, I opted for pastels in the bag and shoes.

Once again, a plain top downplays the pants to create a balance in the overall look. This outfit would be perfect for lunch with girlfriends or a visit to the mall.

This look is definitely the most fashion-forward and will be sure to catch everyone’s eye.

However, the premise is the same as the others. Steer clear of patterns or anything too busy on the other pieces.

These printed pants are worthy of a fabulous top, so I chose another trendy piece (peplum) to top them off. It’s not overkill since the top is in the ever flattering shade of black.

Up the ante even more with a hot pink pair of platforms (the ones above are only $30 at WetSeal!) or keep it simple with some strappy black sandals. Finally, accent the look with some simple silver accessories.
