You’re bound to have a few bad breakups before meeting Mr. Right. Whether you’re dealing with being dumped or made the decision to call it quits, moving on after a split is never easy. Don’t let it leave you in a funk for too long. Here’s our advice for getting over him quick.
1. Cut off all Communication
This step is the most necessary. Immediately following the breakup, you need to cut off all communication. It doesn’t matter if you two want to be friends eventually, because, for now, the best thing to do is to take a step back from the other person and focus solely on yourself. This isn’t possible when you’re constantly bombarded by status updates via Facebook. So, delete their number, then unfriend and unfollow them. It’s hard enough to move on, but it will happen much faster if you cut off communication.

2. Cry it Out
Before you go on pretending everything is okay, you need to give yourself time to grieve. Go ahead and spend an indulgent day just mourning the end of that relationship. Spend some time watching sappy movies, blasting Adele, cuddling with your dog, whatever you need to do to grieve and cleanse yourself before moving on.
3. Make a Con List
Usually you make a pro & con list, but in this situation, just focus on the cons. Make a list of every last little thing your ex did that hurt or annoyed you. Whether it was his bad jokes or constantly ditching you for his friends, making the list will purge you of all those bad memories. Plus, anytime you start missing your ex, you can pull out the list to remind yourself why you’re better off.

4. Designate a Support System
It’s impossible to get over a breakup all by yourself. So, that’s why you need to designate a support system. This can be your mom, sister, or close friends. It’s just someone who will be there when you need a shoulder to cry on, and remind you why you are better off without your ex. These must be people who are there to support and build you up.
5. Rejuvenate Yourself
Taking off a few days from your day to day life is a great way to rejuvenate yourself post breakup. If you have the means, a mini vacation is a great idea, but not the most practical. Do a spa day at home or head to the salon for a makeover. For me, a haircut and color makes me feel a million times better after a breakup.

6. Have a Girls Night
If you can’t manage that mini vacation, the next best thing is a night out on the town with your girls. You don’t need to focus on meeting new guys, but hey, maybe you will find Mr. Rebound. More importantly, you need to let your hair down, laugh, and have a blast with your besties.
7. Avoid His Friends
Another difficult, but necessary step. Part of cutting off all communication with your ex means cutting off his friends, too. When you’re trying to move on, you need to remove anything that reminds you of your ex, including his friends. They’ll understand, and someday later you can all try being friends again.

8. Embrace Your Hobbies
Finally, take time to focus on your hobbies. Your life certainly is centered around dating, so take time to find your passion and embrace your hobbies. Whether that’s writing, painting, hiking, or reading; do all the things you didn’t have time for before. You’ll be distracted from worrying about your ex, and hopefully have some fun too.
