If I could, I would love the luxury of getting a professional blowout for my hair regularly. Unfortunately, constant salon visits just don't fit my budget. No need to fret, because a perfect salon-worthy blowout is possible at home. Here are our tips to DIY!

Pick your Products

For a long-lasting blowout, be careful of what products you apply to your hair. You’ll always want aheat protectant anytime you’re working with styling tools, so that one’s non-negotiable. Consider a mousse for great volume. Remember to apply only a small amount of product at first, to make sure you don’t end up with greasy or heavy hair. You can always add more later.

Use the Right Tools

Use a blow dryer with a nozzle attachment to direct the heat exactly where you need it. Haphazardly dry your hair, directing the nozzle both against and in the direction of hair growth for the most volume. Use your hands instead of a brush during this step until your hair is about 75 percent dry.

Start with Sections

For starters, clip your hair into front and back sections and then begin working with 2-inch sections as you dry. Beginning with the bottom layer, wrap one section around the barrel of a round brush. Aim your nozzle up, against the grain of the hair, starting at the roots. As your roots dry completely move on to the ends. Rotating the round brush underneath the ends as you dry will leave them smooth instead of frizzy. For best results and a long-lasting blowout, make sure to pull tautly with your brush as you dry.

Repeat until all sections have been dried.

Finishing Touches

To finish, run a small amount of shine serum through your hair and mist with hairspray to fight frizz and flyaways.
