Spritzers have a really bad reputation, don’t they? A red or white wine spritzer just makes me think of some hoity-toity uptight woman. Am I the only one? Like this fictional woman can’t decide if she wants to drink or not. That being said, I’ve never had one so I don’t know her life. Maybe they’re really good. But this kind of spritzer, the kind with yummy berries and sparkling wine, it’s the kind I can really get behind. Ladies, this Berry Spritzer is so good.

Make these for your holiday celebration this weekend. Make them for your barbecue this weekend. Hell, make them just because this weekend.

Berry Spritzer

Ingredients
(Makes 8)

3 cups blackberries

1 cup raspberries

1/2 cup Simple Syrup

1/2 cup white grape juice

1/3 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice

Ice, for serving (optional)

Seltzer or sparkling wine, chilled

Patriotic fruit skewers, for garnish (optional)

Directions
Place blackberries, raspberries, simple syrup, grape juice, and lemon juice in the jar of a blender; puree until smooth. Strain mixture through a fine mesh sieve, discarding solids.

Fill 8 Collins glasses with ice, if using. Divide mixture evenly between glasses; top with seltzer or wine and serve immediately garnished with fruit skewers, if desired.

Cheers!
