The lazy days of summer are approaching. Where we are, it’s just a little too hot to enjoy the weather unless you are poolside 24/7. So, the start of the Olympic Games this Friday is the perfect excuse to chill inside with the A/C. Whether you’re hosting a few friends at your place (Olympic drinking games, anyone?) or meeting up at your favorite watering hole, we’ve got the best ideas for what to wear. First, you could recycle one of these perfect patriotic looks from the 4th of July. No one will remember and trust me, you want to show off as much national pride as you can!

Keep it Casual
Several stores have come out with their own line of Olympic-themed clothing, but our favorite is Gap’s vintage tees and tanks. Slip one on with your favorite pair of worn-in denim shorts. To keep from looking like the rest, add interest with accessories. Adding a polka-dot headband to a messy bun is a pretty way to fight frizzy hair that’s too common in this weather. Finish with some strappy sandals and a wrap bracelet to look pulled together, without trying too hard.

Go for Girly
If you want to add a little polish to your look, slip on a girly dress. This chambray dress is a perfect day-to-night item, especially with the hint of skin it reveals through the side cutouts. (It’s under $30, too!) Since the chambray fabric already lends itself to a Midwestern vibe, go ahead and add some cowgirl-esque booties and a fringe cross-body bag. Pile on the gold bangles as a nod to your team winning some gold medals. Finally, brighten up the look with some red lipstick or gloss and red nails.

What I love most about both of these looks is while neither is too over-the-top they still allow you to have a little fun with your look and show some pride. And if a head-to-toe Americana look just isn't your thing, try one of these patriotic manis. So cute! How will you incorporate a little Olympics-themed fun into your wardrobe?
