So fall may not officially start until later this month, but the Labor Day weekend is upon us and I know we are all itching to start breaking out our fall closets and enjoying those Pumpkin Spice Lattes again! School is already back in session and if we pretend hard enough, there’s a chill in the air. So break out those scarves – here’s everything we love about Septbember!

The Return of Football

Ok, maybe we’re not super excited about this, but we know many of you out there are huge college and NFL fans. At the very least, it's tailgating season and you have an excuse to eat dips and appetizers and drink beer all day every Saturday and Sunday.

The Return of Pumpkin Spice Lattes
This is something we can all enjoy! PSLs will officially be back in Starbucks everywhere on the 4th, but we’ve heard rumors of secret availability. If you just can’t wait until Tuesday, practice your flirting skills to see if you can get your hands on one!

The Leaves Changing

We really love summer, but there is something special about the leaves changing. Nature is super gorgeous this month and next with the leaves turning all those pretty colors. Make sure you get out to a pumpkin patch or apple orchard to really enjoy the change (before it turns to winter…yuck).

The Clothes
You can finally bust out all your new fall clothes! Even if it's 80 degrees you can still rationalize the skinny jeans/boots (and scarves!) combo because it's officially September. Starting today, our good friend Gabrielle will be counting down her favorite fall trends so you can make your fall wardrobe super stylish!

The Return of TV
There is nothing better than fall TV! Not only are your favorites returning, we get a whole new crop to enjoy! We can’t wait to fill our DVRs with all the great comedy and drama that awaits us.

Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest starts this month! While we can’t all hop the pond to go party in Munich, there are Oktoberfests celebrated all over the country. Enjoy all the beer and German food you can stand – it only comes around once a year!

The (Highly) Anticipated Return of J.K. Rowling...
The literary wizard is back again with her new book The Casual Vacancy! The novel is out on the 27th and you can bet that we’ll be first in line.

New Music!
I don’t know why, but so many of our favorite artists are releasing new tunes this month! We plan on checking out new tunes from Dave Matthews, No Doubt, Nelly Furtado, The Killers, Matchbox Twenty, The Avett Brothers, Mumford & Sons, and Green Day. There’s even a Fifty Shades of Grey classical music soundtrack coming out…if you’re into that sort of thing.

And as always, there are tons of silly and random holidays. Our favorites:

September is National Self Improvement Month
Ok, this one’s not actually silly. Set a few goals for yourself and work on making yourself better! Whether it’s working on finally getting over an ex or getting back in shape, keep reading GirlsGuideTo (and watching GirlsGuideTo…TV!) to get all the tips and advice you need!

September 5: Be Late for Something Day
Umm, I think this is everyday for me, ha! But hey, today we’ll have an excuse!

September 12: National Chocolate Milkshake Day
The sweet tooth in me is rejoicing! You know we’ll be mixing up blender full of this sweet, chocolatey treat! Any holiday based around chocolate is a winner in my books!

September 13: Defy Superstition Day
Break a mirror! Step on cracks! Walk under a ladder! This was just too random not to share. Through caution to the wind today, ladies!

September 16- National Women’s Friendship Day
Aww, we love this holiday! Since it falls on a Sunday, host a big brunch to celebrate your besties and enjoy the day relaxing with your girls.
