WTF! E-Cigarettes are Being Handed Out at NYFW

Usually the parting "gift" from New York Fashion Week is a water, chilled bottled coffee, and a high-fiber granola bar.
NJOY Kings electronic cigarettes are an official sponsor of New York Fashion Week, meaning they'll be widely available for free to models, editors, stylists, and anyone else working on or attending fashion week. If you haven't glimpsed someone at a bar puffing on a light-up stick yet, e-cigarettes are battery-operated nicotine inhalers intended to be less carcinogenic than your average cigarette.
The NJOY rep spotted backstage at The Theatre at Lincoln Center today was handing out the e-cigs from a backpack.
LaForce + Stevens, who represents the e-cigarette company, confirmed that NJOY is sponsoring IMG Mercedes Benz New York and London Fashion Weeks; the company previously sponsored the fall 2013 shows.
"They're targeting adult committed smokers and since a lot of models, hairstylists, others backstage, and fashion people alike smoke, we wanted to bring them a less abrasive option," the NJOY rep said.
Our Verdict: UGH! I guess it's great for the people that are already smokers, but what about the people who don't smoke? Not only is this a shitty gift, it might encourage non-smokers to "light up" and form a gross new habit.
