What advice would you give a girl who's about to start college?

What do I need to to know/do when leaving home before finishing high school? I am still intent on graduating, and later attending college. I'm turning eighteen this May. I'm graduating June 2011 but I'm moving out this August.

I'm in the process of applying for colleges and unlike all of my friends -- I have no idea where I want to go. What things did you consider when choosing the college you went to? I've been applying to all different sizes all over the country but need some direction.

How do you make friends? I've just started college again and am having some difficulties making some new friends. People tell me I'm fun and nice etc. but I'm having some difficulty turning being friendly in class to wanting to go grab dinner or see a movie. Plus I should mention that I've moved to Canada too and everyone is super nice but I'm still having problems.

I'm getting ready to start choosing universities, big problem is, I have never had any dream job or job in mind, even from as young as I can remember. I've tried looking in to the subject I'm okay in, and nothing seems to click, and there are no Universities near me locally. My parents want me to go to Uni, regardless of if I have a job in mind or not. Another big problem is the boyfriend.

My parents just told me they are refusing to help me out with college. Besides the obvious what do I do? Has anyone else had to go through college all alone?
