Question

I feel embarrassed to ask this question, but I haven't had my period for about a month or two (I can't exactly remember), and I'm pretty sure I'm not pregnant because I'm single and I've never had sex.

Anyways, I'm not sure if I should go to the doctor for this or not. I'm slightly worried about it, and I've been looking online about this topic as well. I did have back pains and mood swings (like as if I was going to have my period),but nothing happened. And they say weight or stress can be a problem.

I am in college right now, and this is my first year at a two year college (I have three classes). I've been getting homework piled on me by my reading teacher. She believes that we should get six hours of homework. But since we don't have school on Friday. then she put 12 hours of homework on my class. Also, I'm not an average weight for my height and a little over my weight; I'm 5'2 and I don't want to look at the scale. :[

I probably should be doing exercises, but I'm usually busy trying to get homework done. I do take the hour break for me to wind down from homework. And I don't want to tell my mom, at least yet, because I don't want to see her reaction (plus, I'd be really embarrassed to mention it). I'm not sure what I should do.

there really isnt nothing to be embarrassed about:} a female would understand because we ALL have periods,, so just tell ur mom and see a Dr. ...sometimes its just stress:/

Go see a doctor, honey. If you don't want to talk to your mom about it, you'll can always tell your doctor, and they won't judge.

Well, I had something like this happen to me. I ended up getting diagnosed with Endometriosis, but I also had a lot of pain.
Talk to your mom, but definitely call your family practitioner. They may send you on to a specialist, if you don't already have one.

I had the same problem last year, went to see my gynea and they found a cyst :( {it wasn't too serious} he put me on the pill and it sorted me out. but a nutritionist was also recommended. It wont hurt to see a doctor or two- they will be able to see exactly whats causing it, plus if its serious then you'll get answers sooner. BUT its nothing to be embarrased about, hoping all the best for you. :)

It sounds stress-related, but go see a doctor to check if you're anaemic. It's a really common thing. :) They will probably advise you to take an iron supplement which you can buy at most supermarkets and chemists.
Not getting enough exercise can contribute to stress, so you might want to consider taking brisk walks in your study breaks. Walking is good exercise and is quite refreshing if you've been working.

i have had this happen a few times, for no obvious reasons, but then, my periods have never been totally regular.......

you could see a doctor, or talk to someone about it, but it might just be nothing too......
maybe good to just wait and see too.

but, in light of your comments on your workload and health, and the worry about the missed period, i think it would be a really good idea to take care of your health a bit more.
i also have trouble with this, and i find that when i dont take care of myself, its harder to get other things done too..........
and its damaging in the long term :/

anyway, really hope its ok for you, and just do what you think is right with it, but, really, i dont reckon its something to worry about overly........

all the best

If it's just 1 then it's not worrying at all. Especially with all the work you said you have to do. I missed one once when I was younger and my mother told me it was normal, my body was still sorting itself out.

If you're very worried then go to the Dr, but if you can stand to wait another month, see if the next one turns up.

Its probaby just the stress that your under at the moment. I barely got my period in year 12 of high school because of all the stress that i was under.
i would suggest going to the doctor just to check that there isnt anything else wrong and also make sure your looking after yourself properly. doing a small amount of exercise daily can actually really help your studies because it increases your alertness and make sure you are eating a healthy balanced diet

you should definitely see a doctor there could be different explanations for that like a huge weight loss or maybe you're under a lot of stress..

My period didn't come this month either, I'm kinda worried but I do take birth control and I live with my boyfriend, however the pregnancy test was negative but it's really weirding me out so i am going to see my doctor soon.

You probably should see a doctor to be certain of what's going on. If you are away at college and/or don't have a regular gyn you should look in the yellow pages for a local planned parenthood location. There you can be seen for your issue and not have to worry about telling your Mom if you don't want to.

The older you are the more you realise that there is nothing to be embarassed about. You will & should be visiting your OB/GYN any time you have an issue. I once lost my period for months when I was in my late teens. It turns out that it was because I had lost too much weight, but you won't know what is causing your symptoms until you check it out with a doctor. Don't be shy about going. The doctor will keep your information confidential & also treat you like an adult.

You need to go to a doctor. (And unless you're mom is one, she probably can't truly help, only offer mere suggestions... if you're in college you're old enough to set up an appointment!) You should be getting checkups of your womanly area if a) You're sexually active or b) You're over 21 anyways, so it's not a huge deal to check things out. It COULD be stress, but that seems abnormal without body stress of working out. I'm sure that it's fine and just a fluke. You're period doesn't fully regulate itself until the mid-twenties.

I suggest either:
1) Going to the Doctor
2) Getting on the pill. I realize you're not sexually active, but this can help hormones and cramps a LOT and you're protected from pregnancy when the time does come for sex!

Good luck!

It is so normal please don't think that we are all regular we are not. Do go seek some guidance because going on the pill isnt just about not getting pregnant its about regulating your hormones which fluctuate and sometimes need a helping hand. On the cramps thing there are a lot of natural remedies out there health stores are good. oh and treat yourself to a good relaxing massage at a nice spa take a girlfriend you will feel sooo much better x

i would have times for doing my homework and have times for breaks and possibly do some type of exercise, because some is better then none at all.

I had this problem like two years ago and knew I wasn't pregnant but was going through some major stress. I went to my doctor and found out that apparently when I'm stressed I produce extra testosterone which causes me not to have my period.

I'd say be safe and just see your doctor. I have a female gyn who's amazing and never makes me feel uncomfortable for having to ask any female orientated questions.

Actually, I have the same problem,too...
I'm a bit over weight, have similar height like you,
and I have period every two months, or maybe even every three months~
I was quite worried about it at first, then I talk to Mom
She said it might be about my health.
Maybe you have unhealthy diets, or insufficient sleep,
these factors affect your time of period.
Or, it might just be a normal thing for some female...
I have changed my diet, I ate more fruits and vegetables than I used to,
and I did more exercise,
and I found slight improvements.
But then, as time passes, I find that I'm not worried anymore,
I just take it as a normal thing and I don't really care,
cos I do not find serious health problem...
If you are still worried, just go see a doctor,
and frankly, it is NOT embarrassing at all~!
Hope you will feel fine soon~
:-D
