My last boyfriend recently slit his wrists and he is in the hospital. It has been a while now, but I'm just NOT ME! Even my friends say it and it's upsetting me, I recently dyed my hair lighter which I believe cheered me up a bit, but I need more pushing still but I just can't do it. Even my friends know it, I think I need a man, but I couldn't help myself if the same thing happened, ANY HELP?

The shock of someone you care about doing something as drastic as that will be huge and have its lasting effect, especially so if you've had a mostly drama free life (no family deaths, no big accidents, etc.) Sometimes just thinking or dreaming about someone I care about getting hurt will make me more than down for a few days. Basically its all about time, obviously its still heavy on your mind and you need some way to keep your mind occupied on other things. I don't think getting yourself a new man is the best idea, cause it would be unfair on the guy and a crappy reason to find someone. Why not go out with some new or more distant friends, since your usual friends are upsetting you, to keep your self occupied. You could take up a hobby, do something new, or even just read some new books. Personally video games help me when I get like this, cause I can loose myself in another world. Eventually you'll feel better but as with most things... it's all about time. This was a serious moment in your life and it can be life changing. Just don't loose hope, keep going, do all you can and one day you'll be able to look back and not have it alter your life.

Not to be harsh, but hun, you need to be THERE FOR HIM! He needs you now more than ever and it may take the rest of your lives for him to heal. I sat in the hospital for the same thing, and it was tragic. Its lost me just about everything, and I'm sure he feels the same. Dont lose hope though he will get better, you just really need to stay strong for him. Go see him and talk to him often; show him that you care and want to help him on his journey to getting better. You really should not leave him! It will make things 10x worse for all. Hold on to him; he will have a lot of lessons to teach you when he starts to get better, I promise.
