I think it's a matter of loving where you are in your life. If you're career driven and think that your dream job will make you happy even if you have to start all over -- I'd choose my career. For me, I gave up the perfect job to stay in the city that I live in because I didn't want to start over and felt that my life here was more important than a paycheck. It turns out I got offered an even better job a few months later and know for sure I made the right decision.
I think the "follow you dreams" doesn't have anything to do with your job. course if you are dreading going to work and getting depressed than ya you probably should change something. But even so, that doesn't mean that your job is what is bringing you down. Strength and perseverance will take you far. When opportunity arises will you grab it or let it slip through your fingers. I however just moved 4 states away from my home state and now have the opportunity to move to beautiful Cali! I wouldn't have had that if I didn't take my company's offer to move out here, I wouldn't have had any opportunity if I quit because I didn't like the 2-11pm shift I was working, plus weekends. My job was so lame, I was over qualified for it, and there was NO stimulation. As time grew closer to graduation my company knew I would be looking elsewhere so I got a nice raise, moving bonus, better job title and not even 5 months later I'm getting yet another raise, and promotion (just graduated last month). So sticking with something is fine as long as there is room for growth within the company.
