I am in my early twenties, and like to stay relatively active (though I do go through phases where I work out more or less, depending on my schedule, etc). In high school, I did crew (rowing), which gave me some seriously muscular legs that didn't look lean, but bulky. Over time, I was able to slim down my thighs somewhat to look more shapely and less manly, and I noticed that when I ate less my calves also lost some muscle mass, which made me appear more proportionate.
My dilemma is that my calves are still HUGE (its pure muscle) and I can't fit into a lot of jeans because they are so disproportionate. Does anyone else out there have this problem, and know how to shrink muscle while still being able to work out? Or does anyone have any tips for longer, leaner legs in general? (Tried squats and lunges, that just grew bulky muscles). Thanks!

I've found pilates has really helped me because my legs always bulk up but doing just 20min workout video a few times a week has made my legs look leaner and also made me more flexible.
