For the past year or so I've been suffering from on and off panic attacks.. At first it was just once a month, if that and then around February of 2010 I started having them at least once a week. I started seeing a counselor and it really helped, but we got to a point where I felt much better and there was nothing left to discuss so we decided to stop my sessions. I hadn't had a panic attack in two months until this morning. I woke up and immediately started having one and I cannot figure out why. Does anyone here have any suggestions on how to stop them? Should I try counseling again? Is there any way of finding out what the deeper issue is, emotionally I mean?

I need help with this too...

aromatherapy .. best relief :))

Read the book Panic Away! You can buy it on ebay or find it in thepiratebay.org. Hope it'll help you :)

Try easing up on caffeine (it really does contribute) and whenever you feel one coming on, pulling yourself away from the situation and drinking chamomile tea or doing something that calms you (petting a cat, solitaire, etc.)

When I started getting panic attacks, I didn't know what it was about. I thought I was just jittery, nervous, sick to my stomach, and short of breath. Turns out, I was uncomfortable and nervous about being social after a long time of not having a social life. The problem dealt with itself (I got more used to being around people), and I stopped having them so often.

Is there something in your life that you aren't comfortable with? If not, it may be primarily chemical, in which case, you should try to avoid substances that do this to you.
