How can I get volume in my baby fine hair???? I have what my hair stylists call baby fine hair. It's straight, thin, flat, get's static easily, gets VERY oily over night and does not hold styles well. I've tried curling it, but the curls fall out within the first 20 minutes even with a TON of hair spray. I tried teasing it but that falls out quickly also. I've tried volumizing sprays, shampoos, I've tried just about everything. About the only thing my hair does well is stay straight and flat and I'm soooo tired of that already. I want volume in my hair gosh darn it! :( Help?

Ive got the same problem :(

yeah as do i.

same here.... :P

Use loose powder at your roots, that'll dry 'em out ;)
Try mousse, it's really effective. Wet your hair, use mousse, then blowdry it :)
Then you can do practically what you want with it, it works :P

I've got the same issue, it does suck :(

I have the same thing ¬¬
The worse thing is that if I put any stuff on it - hairspray, mousse, whatever - it gets oily even faster (hard to imagine, yeah). =| Not to mention none of those worked. =X
(Anything's worth a second try though,... mousse? will have to think about that)

i ahve hair like that :( try backcombing it a little, then brush slightly over the top to disguise it, and spray tonnsss of hairspray on it :) it kinda helps with me i guess! x

I have that. I blowdry my hair upside down
every morning until dry and it really helps!

And I don't backcomb, instead I lift sections
of my hair, spray the roots with hair spray,
and the blowdry the root of that section.

Blowdrying helps a lot because the heart holds
in the style.

I'll swap?
Do you have layers? Because they can really help to create volume through the body of the hair, especially if your hair isn't TOTALLY dead straight but has a slight wave to it... No matter how slight.

i have the same issue. and i find that back combing it helps for a little bit.. but then its falls too ><
same with all the products :(

get your hair cut into a style that doesnt weigh it down, that helps alot!
also try round brushing the top of your head "up" to create more volume at the roots.

Dry shampoo works quite well with me and it's quite light and easy to work with when you want just a simple solution. Just hit the roots with spray and only do the crown and your hair part. When spraying just as if your using a hairstraightner part your hair every two inches, lift, and spray roots. Do use a round brush cause if you just comb it with only a straight brush you may just call me a liar or if you don't have a round brush use clean dry fingers to poof it up and shake your head upside down. And yes layers do you justice, don't be scared thinking your getting a mullet if your shortest layer hits just mid cheek, I swear you won't regret leaving the stylist looking like joe dirt, my longest leangth hits mid shoulder blade so everything flows the way it ought to be.

get a shampoo for oily hair and try lathering it then rinsing twice instead of once

I have the same problem and I live in humidity hell : (. The ONLY thing that works for me in the non humid months is Redkin Hotsets its a spray used with a curling iron, that with freeze it hair spray only, will keep you hair curled for hours on those special days, make them as big or small as you want lol and honest I dont shake my head out until I arrive where I am going, then in the car I bend down shake with fingers however loose you want and spray with freeze it hair spray, promise it will work and I have tried everything! Hope it works for you : )

Okay, I have really longer hair-- it is baby fine and super straight (has same problems as yours). I use hot oil treatment in the shower, then shampoo, trying to get my roots only. Then I condition THE ENDS ONLY, do NOT condition your roots!!!! That will leave them flat. When you get out of the shower, brush your hair, put in a tiny bit of mousse (focus at roots.) Turn your head upside down and dry it upside down! Brush it upside down, and flip your hair over. You should have added volume, it really doesn't take very long either. I use a giant roll brush for my hair as well, nothing straight, except my hair straightener which I use on a low heat, it takes out the static!
I just finished my hair actually as I saw this post, it looks great :) Good luck!

bump it! [:

K so I'm a cosmetologist and I've noticed that a lot of my clients, and myself, have that problem. Well I use this product called Dirty Bytch by Bumble and Bumble. It's a dry shampoo and if you spray it at your roots while your hair is ALMOST dry, then blow dry it upside down, then use a round brush at your crown, it really helps add a lot of volume. I still tease it only because I love to (haha) but I don't need to.
