Does anyone know a good(and cheap) way to make sure your eyeshadow stays on all day? Ill always do my make-up really nice in the mornings, but after a few hours, most of the eyeshadow has gathered at the eye-lid crease. Is there some trick that you all use?? Please help!!!
Color yourself happy—for keeps
Surprise! Contact lens solution can help hold eyeshadow in place, because most contain sodium chloride (aka salt). The mineral causes powdered makeup to retain moisture so pigment lasts longer, says Diana Manzanares, a makeup artist in New York City. Dab three drops of solution on each lid, let dry for five seconds, then add color.
often I use a primer, and if you put on a very small amount it goes on very smooth and creates a nice base for your eyeshadow
I use i-mark eye shadow from mark. It's amazing, affordable and lasts all day...best of all it doesn't crease! check it out:

Hey I've wondered the same thing! haha lol
loreal decrease is a cheap alternative to Urban decay primer potion or twofacedshadowinsurance (around 17 dollars each while loreal is aronud 7)
urban decay primer potion has worked the best I have found!
Where do you buy it, without having to order it online. I live in a small town on the Centrol Coast of California, and we dont have much here. Our stores only carry the most popluar make up brands like Revlon, N.Y.C, Rimmel, ect. Is there a certain store that carrys it, like Macy's or something???
the only thing i hav found to work is urban decay, and ive tried all sorts of them
I use and sell Avon eye-shadow and it's more like a cream and it lasts me all day! I prefer the creams anyhow.
Hairspray over the eyes it creats liike a film ad keeps it on longer and it's unnoticable x
ouch!
Using the contact lens solution works excellent!!! It is pretty inexpensive & a little bottle goes a long way, especially if that is the only thing you're using it for. Also, if you already wear contacts, you probably already have it in your bathroom so there will be no additional cost to you! Good luck!!!
Or if you use it to clean out piercings like I do. You should never use runbbing alcohol on a piercing at all!! All it does is dry it out(unless its your lobes, If you use saline soulution on your lobe piercings, it will get infected) But for nose, cartilidge, and belly button saline solution works great. Even doctors within hospitals use it to clean out wounds on patients.
does using contact lens solution really works??? wont it hurts or spoil our eyelids???
PUT VASELINE ON IT! really it's the easiest/fastest way
I find good quality make up stays put...
I used to do makeup for theatre - hot stage lights, sweat, etc. A great trick I learned is hair spray. AquaNet will work just fine! A light coat of hairspray over your makeup will be sure to keep it in place all day long!!
There are a couple different things you could do. Make sure you have a super clean face before you put on your eyeshadow first of all. That way if you do apply a primer it has a oil free surface. (Urban decay makes a awesome one) A primer is usually very helpful, or you could try benefits crease less cream eye shadows they work really well as a primer and you can get them in all different kinds of colors and then accent them with the shadow of your chioce. There is also a product called She laq by benefit that is a clear liquid you put over the makeup to seal it in. Your makeup wont even smudge all day lol. I believe that loreal also makes a primer although i havent tried it so i dont know how well it works. If you want something that really works i would say spend a little extra money and you should be satisied :)
Primer is wonderful. I use Urban Decay (i know, sounds bad) shadow primer potion
Vaseline. It doesn't cost much and you can put it on your lips aswell so it's like 2-in-1.
I might have seen somewhere that you can put it on your cheeks to maybe keep blush on but I'm not sure now.
putting foundation on your eyelids before apply eyeshadow works really well. I do it everyday and never have a problem keeping my eyeshadow in place.
I get this - I put my concealer stick on my eyelids and then put my eyeshadow over the top. It really works!
Well, if you have access to NYC, I use NYC translucent powder, applied to the lids before any other makeup.
MAC paintpots are the best. enough said.
I always use an eyeshadow base and it works!

Urban Decay Primer Potion! it's pricey.. but so worth it!
i have a stick concealer that doubles up as a concealer, and you put it on your eyelids, smudge it a bit and the eyeshadow sticks on all day :)
Hair-spray or when you put your foundation on, put some on your lids too.
Ive just started using Urban Decay Primer Potion, and I love it!! Even if I go to sleep with my make-up on, when I wake up in the morning, my make-up is still perfect. Urban Decay's 24/7 Eye Liner Pencles are great too!! They are completley water proof. And if anyone is looking for a good cream/ink liner, Clinique is amazing, and less pricey then others(its only $14 and comes with the brush, where as MAC is $17, plus you have to buy the brush for $17.50. Urban Decay is $17, comes with a brush, but is a little hard to work with.) And thanks for all the advice everyone!!
Lick your finger then use your finger to apply eyeshadow.
Cheapest thing to do ;)
consealer on your eyelids before you apply shadow licking your finger and wiping it on your lids does nothing .. it will dry out and fall off anyway.. also you can buy primer for a lot cheaper then urban decay..
at walmart or walgreens l'oreal sells it.. you can also go to eyeslipsface.com (elf) they sell it for 1 dollar.. I cant recomend that one yet.. i have one on order.. but the l'oreal works good.. i have that one
Concealer or creme foundation (done it)
Vasaline (it works and Pros do it to)
Personaly use Smashbox eye primer (cause I can't find urban decay)
MAC paintpots or Covergirl creamsticks are amazing at holding on and staying true to colour (never used primer for those products)
Use to do eye liner pencils but was afraid I'm doing more damage tugging at my eye lids and working at smudging tons so you don't have horizontal eye strokes. (wouldn't go back to that again)
**wouldn't do hairspray or saliva, looks like a hell start there**
(Have not tried eye contact solution...so good luck if it does do justice)
