What's the best way to get rid of blackheads?

I have the same problem, I wash my face with a scrub by ST.Ives, just one of those apricot scrubs that exfoliates. Then I use Cleand and Clear face wash which usually helps. Then, once a week I use a face mask called Mint Julep Masque by Queen Helene, its about 3 or 4 dollars at Walgreens :) Super, super good. Smells great and really works on acen, pimples, and definitely blackheads!

That is so funny...I use the exact same products on my face. I like the Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque...I use every Sunday. The St Ives Apricot Scrub I use daily, but the milder version.

use the biore pore strips !

Um...wash your face twice daily, like you're supposed to?

that can make it worse

i agree, you're not supposed to wash your face too much

I have sensitive skin, wash my face two times a day, use oil free products and nothing i have tryed works, even the pore strips. I eat healthy and drink lots of water... it is horrible. I live in Australia so im not sure what would be a similar store to Walgreens.

Walgreen's is a pharmacy in the US, I think CVS is similar (there not in my area), so probably any pharmacy, grocery store, or a store that sells a little of everything (like Wal-Mart, Target or K-Mart if those places are in Australia) should have something to help.

the best product for sensitive skin in australia is stuff called Lalisse it helps with scars and black heads :D

i don't know if Australia has this, but im sure you can order it online, but try Arbonne products for your skin, they have stuff for people with sensitive skin

I heard if your face gets really oily (which I have) don't wash it twice a day and not to wash with hot water because your face drys up and your skin has to produce more oils to retain itself.

Ahh, thankyou very much! I will have to check it out =]

I will have to try washing in cold water, or warm. Thanks for that too!

Yeahh, I heard, or read, or something that washing your face in very very cold water can minimize pore size. I don't know if that will help with blackheads specifically but..

I don't have an blackhead problem anymore, but this is what I would suggest: wash your face in warm water to open up your pores, exfoliate gently, rinse, wash with some sort of face wash that won't completely kill your skin, then rinse with cold water to close your pores so nothing gets clogged up again. DON'T do this every day. Do the same shit everyone tells you: eat healthy, drink lots of water, avoid stressful situations, etc. Also, does anyone know if birth control helps with blackheads? I know it helps with other sorts of acne.
As for excessive face-washing making your skin oilier, this is true. The same goes for your scalp, which is why, if you have oily hair, you should only wash it 2-3 times a week. Your skin will feel like it's losing too much oil if you wash excessively, and will, consequently, create more. I know, it seems counter-productive to wash your face/hair less if you feel it needs to be cleaned more, but after awhile, it will get better. Do continue to rinse daily (like, in the shower), and use an oil-free face moisturizer, though.

i agree with emma, i have oily skin and hair and actually washing my face and hair less often makes it better.

i find a good way to get rid of blackheads is to squeeze them so that they 'pop' then cleanse my face with a blackhead wipe. i use oxy for men wipes.

Squeezing the blackheads with your fingers puts oils right back into your pores. When you get the pore flushed out of all the oils that are trapped in there, it usually leaves your pores open and larger than normal, allowing the oils from your fingers to go right back in there.

ive never had that problem, once they squeezed they gone thankully

cold retracks .. hot expands.. same for skin .. so yes.. if you use cold water it will retract your pores.. but i'm not sure its enough to make a diff.. but.. that has nothing to do with clearing up blackheads.. which is dirt, oil and skin that is cought up in your pores.. mario badscu has good products. you can also get free samples.. (including free shipping) by filling out a form on their site.. you fill out the form .. wait a day or two they'll send you and email asking if you want to try their stuff.. click on yes.. and in a couple weeks.. you'll get 5 or 6 samples..
