I haven't had a period since June 17th-July 21st, and my cycle is usually 30-32 days long, like clockwork. It's been a few days late before, but never have I skipped one altogether, let alone 2 in a row. I've taken a number of home pregnancy tests over the last few months, and they are always negative. I haven't had any pains or anything- just no period. I've looked online and read that stress can make someone miss their period- but I'm not under any abnormal amount of stress. I've also read and heard from friends that a person can be pregnant for months and pee tests to come negative but the person finds out later they were pregnant... I have a doctor's appointment set up, but I was curious if this has happened to any of you, and what the cause of it was.

Im actually going through the same thing right now and the doctor told me it happens all the time. They said my reason was because i got off my birth control. They put me on this hormone pill that is suppose to get my cycle started back up again. If you haven't seen a doctor I would go but they did tell me even if I didn't take the hormone I would eventually start again.

exactly what she said. i take birth control and i went two weeks straight with a period. its the opposite but the same at the same time you just need a higher or lower dosage of birth control if you are on it.

if not i recommend it.

but really go see a doctor. it will help.

Go in for a blood test for your own peace of mind. Home tests say they are very effective but sometimes blood is the best way to pick up those HCG levels...

If you exercise too much or eat to little both of those things can cause your body to stop its periods. A lot of female athletes don't get their periods.

consult a doctor is the best advice anyone can give. simple things like drinking too much before a pregnancy test can dilute the pee enough to read a false negative.

Definitely see a doctor, but don't worry. I've had a few times where I've skipped, sometimes because of stress and sometimes because of changes in my diet and activity level. When I was training for my triathlon I completely missed one and freaked out until I realized that yes, I had a major change in diet and exercise level! Sometimes your body goes through subconscious stresses that cause you to miss. You're being smart, so just go see that doctor and you'll be fine :)

One of my friends has that problem. She's still a virgin so it's not like she has to worry about being prego. But she's went up to 7 months without a period. Her doctor said it should straighten out as she gets older. That was three years ago. This just happens to some girls.

Best advice: Talk to your Doctor.

Stress can cause it for sure. And then the more you stress the worse you can make it.
Chill out. Take a blood test if it will calm your nerves and things should be back to normal soon

I went three months without one before.
I was fine. I knew I wasn't pregnant. There was just no way.
To ease the minds of my mother sister and boyfriend I took FOUR tests spread out within the 3 month time frame and they all said negative. It DOES ease the mind more with a blood test as well.
Perhaps go and get that checked out.
My doctor put me on birth control and I had my period shortly after for two and a half weeks straight.
That bit is annoying but two weeks of a hassle is a lot better then spending the rest of your life with an even BIGGER one if you're not ready.
Go get it checked out. I'm sure all is well.
Just try not to focus on getting it and don't stress. =)
Our bodies can be stubborn sometimes, is all.

I have been going thru the same thing. Best advice is to go to the dr. I know that I found out I had ovarian cysts and that is why mine was messed up. Just go to the dr. It will be okay.

Totally agree - see your doctor or go to a naturopath. Mine have always been irregular and I found out I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) - essentially cysts on the ovaries. It's unknown how it occurs but healthy diet and exercise does a lot to get you back into a normal rhythm.

see what can i do about my clit being hurt

Obviously consult a doctor, but missed periods can be caused by pregnancy, stress or excessive weight-loss/gain. Obesity often causes irregular periods and being under-weight can cause them to stop completely, but sometimes it just happens, and it's usually nothing to be worried about.

ive missed a period for 7 months in a row, went to see the doctor about it and said there was nothing wrong and just let it happen. Im not on birth control tablets or anything but i still missed 7. dont worry, if anything be happy, i know i am :)

it could be stress related

I would go to the doctor because it may be strees related and you may never know

If you are anorexic, this can explain :-)
Good luck through !

If it's still going on, ask your doctor about Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. It can cause women to skip periods. It's nothing bad, just if you haven't found a reason yet, explore that one. :)

so, it's been several weeks...what is the update?
what did the doctor say?

and I went almost a year without one, (not preggers), then another 6 months without one. now I cycle regularly...Just when i was getting used to not having one.

I had a Gastric Bypass in July 2007, and Jan 2008 they stopped.
been regular since June 2009

Stressing about not having it definitely makes it not come..Also, when I get pregnant, I knew..I knew something in my body was different..you can just feel it. But it's been awhile, let us know what happened??

so i was wondering, i'm 14 and i'm worried im pregnant. but, as far as i know, i'm a virgin. the reason i think i could be is my stomach has been bugging me and i have this bump on my stomach. (but my mom thinks thats muscle tone, though.) i haven't had anything else, no morning sickness, or always being hunrgry or whatever. I'm on my period, but it's alot lighter than what i normally get.. So, is there any reason I should be worried, or am I over-reacting?

ok i recently had this same problem and i went to get checked out at my gyn and he told me that i had a minor infection and it caused one of my ovaries to be inflamed which in turn made my period not come for like a month....he gave me a prescription for one day and within the week i got my period with no problem. hope i helped ^_^
