I'm going to start a diet today, including exercise and healthy eating. No diet foods, no fake products, anything fake is off the menu. I'm also a vegetarian. No fish, no meat, no poultry. I eat eggs from a local farm, which is a plus as far as health goes. My only problem is staying motivated to do it. It's hard because I work so much to come up with foods that I can eat at work that's easy to bring, quick to make, and delicious. Any suggestions on what to make or ways to stay motivated?

Think about how good you feel after you work out. Getting the workout started is always the hard part. Also, get good music. If I'm not listening to anything, I can't do it. I'm the same way about the food at work situation, but I definitely suggest taking leftovers from cooking the night before (the trick is to pack them before you eat, that way you don't over eat -and- your lunch is already packed! yay!) or making a meal plan before you go shopping.
Good luck!!!
Being healthy is my motivater. lol
I find it easier 2 go a day without chocolate, then 2 go a day with 1 chunk of chocolate! If I have one its just like 'one more wont hurt.... just one more.... I've already had this much, might aswell have more now..." lol!
Its good that your not eating artificial stuff etc. but you also need balanced meals.
Each meal needs protein (as your a veggie, that eggs, cheese, nuts and seeds), carbohidrates (dunno how to spell that!) (bread, pasta, potato... actualy, basicaly everything that isn't protein or fruit or veg!), and fruit or veg (you should have a lot more veg than fruit. Try herbs if there isn't much veg u like.)
also drink loads of water.
If you have a balenced diet you can eat some chocolate and things, not to much tho lol.
DO NOT COUNT CALORIES!!!!!! and EATING LESS DOES NOT MAKE YOU THIN!!!
food turns into energy, not having a balanced diet is what makes you fat, not eating too much!
How about egg or cheese sandwhich with a fruit for work?
good luck x
Theres alot of lentil chickpea and bean salads that are fairly easy to make which are great from lunches
I can post some recipies if you want :D
I'm also a vegetarian. I love using brown rice, tomato (or salsa), and avocado wrapped up in a tortilla. It's quick and easy to make and tastes awesome!
i'm also on a diet, i used to eat a lot of junk food, and i loved to eat a lot at night!
now, i dont eat sugar, fat, chocolate, rice, sausage, any cookie or chips, some fruits like banana or grapes, avocado and pasta. I only eat fruits, vegetables, and chicken or meat cooked with water, vegetable soups, light cheese, yogurt and loads of water
i totally changed my habits, but im not exercising. Its worked so far, it's been 2 weeks and i've lost 2 kilos, i dont know how many pounds is that.
Lucky!
Do you have a Nintendo Wii? If so, get Wii Fit, seriously, it's amazing!
I'm also a veggie, and whilst I'm not dieting, I AM eating healthily and exercising, but not drastically or anything, and without intending to, I've lost weight (which is good, I was overweight before) so even small changes make a difference. I would say try to boost your metabolism (http://thyroid.about.com/cs/dietweightloss/a/12ways.htm) as then it'll be easier to lose weight anyway. (I think this is how I've lost weight, I've been trying to build up muscle, before I realised it can speed up your metabolism). Anyway, I would say exercise regularly (try for at least 30 minutes 3 times a week), and there are tons of healthy veggie recipes online (I should know, I've got loads of them!) Here a few sites to get you started: http://www.vegetariantimes.com/ http://www.vegsoc.org/ http://www.vegcooking.com/index.asp
Don't call it a diet, the brain doesn't like the word diet because it has the word DIE in it. Call it a lifestyle change.
Also if you do have a lapse, like the other day, I had a chocolate binge, don't get made at yourself. Think about how you felt when you did it, why you did it and how you felt after. Then turn that negative into a positive by going to do some more exercise etc.
I found weight loss and healthy lifestyle changes are 25% physical (exercise, etc.), 25% Intake (food, drinks etc.) and 50% mental. Change your negative thought patterns to positive ones and you will find you won't fill like you are missing out, rather you are doing yourself a favour. So far I have lost 11kgs, and still have another 30 to lose, and this is the biggest thing that helped me.
Goodluck hun.xx
