I've always been a tomboy but I'm ready to become a girly girl. Well, not totally but I want to start caring more about my appearance since I'm in my early 20's and in the working world but I have no idea what the basics are. My question is what are some good beauty tips that a girl like me (or any girl should know) from skin care to makeup. Anything!! Please help... I'm clueless

With clothes, stick with basics. Good fitting jeans, skirts, fitted T-shirts/tanks, and a comfy pair of ballet flats will get you far. Black is a tried and true basic, but other colors depend on your skin tone. Earth tones flatter most people, but bright colors can be tricky, especially highlighter shades.

I use to be and still am a Tom Boy in a way. I like to wear make up, but you will never find me in a pair of heels, dress, or make up EVERYDAY, mainly when I have an outfit on that I like, going somewhere "fancy". Change yourself, but don't loose yourself.

With foundations, you're really gonna have to do homework. Check out your skin type and maybe experiment with some store brands to see how your skin reacts. I'm on topical acne medication, so I had to splurge on an oil free foundation at Sephora, but I hardly ever wear it because it still clogs up my skin. That, and I realized I never have time for makeup.
Almay is a really cheap makeup brand and they have a great waterproof volumizing mascara that doesn't clump. You're gonna want a natural look for your makeup, so you probably want to steer clear of black liner if you have medium to light hair/eyebrows. Go with brown. Experiment with it to figure out a look you like. A lot of people say not to line the bottom lashes because you can easily look like you have raccoon eyes, but if you use a light brown it's not that dramatic.
I really like Aussie's 3 Minute Miracle Deep Conditioner, I only have to use it every other week to make my hair really soft. Try not to straighten your hair or blow dry your hair all that much, since it dries it out. But if you do, protect it with a deep conditioner. Also, I really like Aussie's Totally Twisted mousse if you want to try for some wave. It smells UH-MAZING, and you just rub it in after a shower and let your hair air dry. Redken works really well too, but it's salon stuff, and it's pretty expensive. I got lucky and got Redken 007 Ringlet on sale after Christmas :/
Go to your local drugstore and look around for cleansing masks. They're so much fun and make your skin feel great :D Also, exfoliate your skin once or twice a week to keep your skin feeling soft. Leaving dead skin on your face can lead to acne. I like St. Ive's Apricot Scrub. But if you have dry skin on your face, don't use a lotion you use for your body. I use Cetaphil, mainly because my skin is so sensitive. It's light and doesn't feel greasy. You're going to have to gauge what products do what to your face. Even though I have acne medication, I'm breaking out even more because a new cleanser I'm using is drying out my skin causing it to over produce oil. I feel so womanly if I put lotion on all over my body after a shower, so you can try that to :D Sometimes it's just the little things you do at home to make you feel the most girly! I'd recommend splurging on a good bra at Victoria's Secret. I got the Body Bra because I needed a strapless bra for prom, and holy crap, I love that thing to death. It was $50, but so worth it. If you feel feminine on the inside, you're going to exude it on the outside too.

1.- mix 2 tea spoons of olive oil with 1 tea spoon of sugar rub gently in circular motion on your face and neck,, rinse off with water... it exfoliates your skin, removing dead skin cells and will leave your skin incredibly soft :)
2.- if you have acne scars, use lemon juice on them ( cut lemon in half and rub over area) rinse off after 10 minutes :) ( PS: might take a while before you see results)
3.- for your hair,, to make it shiny and silk soft,, you kow those bowls you eat soup out of?? poor some warm water ( not hot) into it,, and add a teaspoon of honey, and if you´re blond, maybe a few drops of lemon juice ;) mix it, you´ll see the water will have a light cold colour, after shampooing with your normal shampoo ( also i recommend you wash your hair with warm water instead of hot, hot can damage your hair) :) rinse out your shampoo, and after that poor the honey-water over your hair, wait for a minute or 2, and rinse out only a little,, as to not make your hair sticky nor to rinse it all out :) just a little
you dont need to do all of these things but it works really :) i got these tips from an incredible page on facebook, its called Beauty Guide :) might wanna check :) the creater answers every question you have,, and also she posts things about beauty tips from different countries such as Thailand, Greece, Belgium... anything :) its amazing really... she will answer every single question you have,, even about make up :D really, go to it TRUST ME!!!! :) xx good luck hunn

As for mascara, I'd say use something brown if you're light-haired (blonde or red-headed), and a dark brown or black if you have dark hair. Dark blue also works nice for something more festive, and really makes brown and blue eyes pop. A little eyeliner along the lower waterline (and I mean a little) can give you a touch of a smoky look without going overboard.
If you want a more made-up look for dates or parties or something, try looking at some tutorials on youtube. Just keep in mind that, if you don't have the fairly expensive make-up they usually use, you shouldn't try something too complicated, as it ends up just looking like a mess.
Remember, less is more.
As for skin care, if you have dry skin, exfoliate once a week to get rid of dead skin, and use a moisturizing rinse every few days. You can get a face moisturizer, too, which you usually put on before bed. If you have oily skin, clean you face with a non-exfoliating (or gently exfoliating) cleanser every few days. Remember to start with warm water to open pores, and end with cold water to close them.
Hair is a really broad term, but my advice is this: don't shampoo and condition your hair every day. Shampooing every day takes all the essential oils out of your scalp, and causes your hair to want to produce more. I'd say every three days, go ahead and shampoo. If your hair is oily, don't bother conditioning a whole lot.

use a lip tinting chapstick and a basic waterproof mascara. I wouldn't use any eyeshadows yet. I let my girl friend do my make up for the first time and they used eyeshadow, lipstick, eyeliner, blush...etc (to me) I looked awful - it was just because it was so DIFFERENT than I was used to. so my mom suggest a start with just a few basics and work up as I wanted to.
so I use a light powder, then a slightly darker powder on my cheeks, forehead, nose and chin - just to give a little bit of a sun-kissed look, a clear chapstick just to give my lips some shine and a mascara. I dont faking anything really just accenting what I already have. Now that i'm used to make up - I'll wear eyeliner for date night with my sweetie, and I just got some slightly shimmery purple eye shadow (they say it'll bring out my green eyes) *shrugs* guess we'll find out. =)
also - try going to the mall - you don't have to buy all that pricey makeup - but have one of the makeup artists put some makeup on you - they'll show you how to apply certain things, they'll be able to tell you what colors would fit you...etc
