Question: I'm a freshman in college and transferring...

A lot of sororities have web-sites to tell you what they are all about. Check out their mission statements and things like that. You will know by their interests and stuff if you are going to fit in well with them. Sometimes rushing a sorority, you will realize you can't fit in with the personalities of the girls though, so you might need to try out rushing a couple and pick one. Definitely do some research and ask questions as soon as you can though, or you will end up feeling committed to something you aren't really into. :) Good luck! The friendships you can build in a sorority are very rewarding and the bond is very comforting!

Honestly I tend to disagree with this statement. Before I went through recruitment I asked around about the sororities on campus and I was leaning towards one sorority after hearing about them from people on campus and learning what they stood for. However the more girls I met I found myself disappointed in who they were actually were and in the end I chose a sorority who I had heard stories about my freshman year that were not good. During recruitment its really important to try and have a normal conversation with the girls you talk to and you'll find some you can actually hold a conversation with and some who are just faking it.

Research them before hand, the history, what they STAND for and their goals. Not if they are known to be hot/sluts, throw the best parties and colors. Ask around from family members, friends, or even random people walking in the mall with the symbols on. Do hard core research, because you might be getting yourself into something you can't get out of and rejoin another. Talk to girls on your campus who are in your perspective sorority, and see if you will enjoy the next four years with them. Hope I helped!

I had the same thought when I went through sorority recruitment at my university. It turns out to be a you pick them and they pick you and it'll work out well. I couldn't have imagined myself in a different sorority than im in now. I'm finding it so sad to leave my sorority cuz I'm transfering to a medical school for a program not offered at the university I am at now.

Go around and see what girls you could imagine spending the most time with (especially when you rush-- you're going to be with them day and night)

just go around them, meet the girls and you will just know, it seems wierd, but once I stepped foot into mine, I just KNEW I had to be a part of it

meet them all and do your research on them to see if you like what they are about and hopefully you will get a gut feeling about them

Go where you think you'll get along with the girls the most... even if it's not known as the "hottest" sorority :)
