This is SO lame, but I am 20 years old and leaving school for the first time. I went to community college for the past 3 years and this is my first time REALLY leaving home. I was wondering if I should bring my baby blanket... yes I am a loser, but that thing comforted me as a child and even got me through my first bad break up at 19. Should I leave it home because I know the first few days home blues will go away? Or take it with me and give it to my mom when she leaves a week after school starts or keep it for more "bad times"?

I have never been to college before, heck i am still just a sophomore in high school. but if i was going to college right now, i would so bring my baby blanket and some of my stuffed animals. i wouldn't be afraid to tell people i have a blanky, who cares its an item that is very significant to you. bring it, its better to feel safe then sorry.

I have a teddy bear. Her name is Teddy (original, I know). I got her in the hospital when I was born, so she has been with me my whole life. I brought her to college with me. She's literally sitting on the desk right next to me as I type this. My roommate brought stuffed animals, as well.

Bring your blanket :)

There isn't a thing wrong with having your blankey with you when you head to college! It helps you through hard times, and who knows, it might help you through more! I strongly suggest you take it with, hon.

I brought my kiddie blanket with me to college, granted mine is something my grandma gave me when I was 4, so I was a bit bigger and I still snuggle it every time I'm sick or had a bad day. I see nothing wrong w/ bringing a comfort item though. If it makes you feel more comfortable, why not? If you get to the point you don't think you need it anymore then you can take it home w/ you sometime, but honestly I love having my blankey there. You never know when you just need that bit of home to cheer you up. Your blanket clearly holds good feelings for you, so why worry what others will think?

College is about growing up, so there's nothing wrong w/ bringing your blanket or another comfort item to ease the transition. Good luck in away from home college, though! I know it can be scary at first.
