Why won't it go anywhere? I want to lose 15-20 lbs by summer. I have been working my butt off all spring to get rid of this weight. I have tried cutting out sugar and junk food even going to the gym for 2 hours a day but nothing is working. Any tips or suggestions?

First, 45 minutes of exercise is not a maximum for exercise. If your body can cope with more and it fits with your schedule than do it!
second, the recommended breakdown of carbs:fat:protein is about 55:25:20, however things to remember are that fat has about double the calories of protein and carbs so you need less grams and you can cut down carbs a bit and replace it with protein to try to get your body to burn fat when your exercise, but remember that if you want to keep the weight off once you lose it, your most likely going to need to keep it up forever!
you will probably need to re asses your diet, it would probably be best to go to a nutritionist to look at what your actually eating and what need to be changed. a big mistake i see all the time is that people choose "diet" foods which are generally highly processed and high carb despite being low fat. my recommendation is to stick to as many unprocessed foods as possible which includes removing any frozen/ microwave foods. you would be surprised how much extra fat and sugar they add into those things!
a for your exercise you might not be getting the most out of your workouts. have a few sessions with a personal trainer or check out some classes, you need to really push yourself to get real benifits :)
hope this helps

On a daily basis you need to eat at least 6 times! Yes, you're reading right, 6 times! Six times in small quantities. And different foods rich of proteins, fat (yes, your body needs a daily portion of fat, but recommended fat is the one from flaxseed oil) and the needed amount of carbs but not over amounting them. So you need a combination of 40:20:20. Which means your body need 40% of the food in proteins (the food of the muscles), 20% of fat and 20% of carbs.
The other essential thing is to drink water!! As more as better! But not tab water, because it's not pure most of the times and you're bringing more toxins in your blood. So to every 20kg of your body weight you need 1l of pure water. That means if you weight 40kg. you need at least 2l per day. That's the minimum!!
Cut off sugar.. All soda drinks, all fast foods restaurants, all artificial sugar products. Instead, use honey.
Eating is the essential here!! Let me repeat it again: eating is the essential in gaining or loosing weight!
Training more.. Hmmm that's the biggest mislead many ppl believe in. That through training more, you'll achieve better results.. WRONG!
Through training more, you'll exhaust your body and you'll constantly make it feel hunger and need of food to supply with energy.
The max amount of training and the ABSOLUTELY enough is 45min. per day!! Yes, you're reading right, 45min. per day!
So make a program: Monday - training legs; Tuesday- day off; Wednesday- training upper body; Thursday- day off; Friday-aerob; Saturday- day off; Sunday-walking: crucial and essential!! Fast walking that 1st:makes your blood in the vein run faster, 2nd: purify your cells and supply them with oxygen, 3rd: release you from the stress and negative energy through the contact with the ground. You need at least 5-10miles walking. Not to mention that walking every day is a great benefit too and you'll see how good it is for you and your body!
To summarize, if you're looking for losing weight for a longer period, and not aiming the yo-yo effect, you need to change your life style! You need to eat more, but in SMALL quantities and you need to be strict in your exercising program!
I was there, done that.. Exercising more made me end up with same kg and sometimes even with more on! Tried to eat less and the result was constant will of eating that was driving me crazy and making me angry.
When I've changed that and tried the eating more times in small quantities the RIGHT food, well the result were obvious!
I've no longer experienced hunger, neither anger, nor frustration.
Not at all, the result was shaping my body, gaining good looking muscles and losing kg.
So re-consider the advices above! Understand that they're only short term results! You can't keep your body always on eating less. This way you won't give it the needed energy and you'll end up one day stressed, exhausted and giving up.

Good luck!
