I have the same type of hair, and I love it. There are a few keys to loving it though. The right hairdresser who understands how to work with it, the right cut, and the right product. My hairdresser introduced me to my current hairstyle last year. It is angled along my jaw line and layered. I never would have picked it, but it works really well (and I don't miss the length). Bumble and Bumble are wonderful products to use. You will pay more up front, but the bottles last a long time for me. Redken is also good as well. If you want to go a bit cheaper, Sammy (Target and Walgreens are where I have found them) has proven to work pretty well for me. i use a mousse gel combo called stylius which works great because it defines my curls and stops the frizz plus its really cheap....about 3 euros which i dont know how much is in the states :S i put it on my wet hair and it dries with the curls defined =D

I've got a couple of friends that do this too. It's between $200-$250 here in the states. I've thought about doing it, but I kinda like my waves! I also think that bone straight hair is too common and over done, rock your curls!

I straighten my hair every day for school and then go over it with the straightener before I go out. My hair is very dry but I’m trying to grow it longer. My hairdresser recommended me chopping about 5 inches off, but I wouldn’t have it. She told me about this permanent straightening thing. I have heard of people who have done it and if your hair is really curly it won’t be completely straight, but your curls won’t be as curly and tight. This isn’t damaging to the hair either which is a great. However the price can be about £200, I don’t know how much that is in $. Im not sure on the name i think its something like carenteen, hope i was help xx

I have really thick wavy hair, and I know it's different, but I've had really good luck with Herbal Essence's Totally Twisted and Redken 07 (which is professional and more expensive, but I got it on sale pretty cheap). I use Aussie's 3 Minute Miracle every now and then for some nice deep conditioning, which can cut down on frizziness. I don't know how that would work on such curly hair, though, I use them to enhance my waves. The best I can think of if you want to relax it or something :/ If you're looking for a style to get them out of the way, two of my English teachers have thick curly hair, and they both had their hair relatively short, one at the shoulders and one just a few inches long, and they looked awesome with just a bold scarf as a headband.

I use John Frieda products: 2 times a week a nourishing, reparing hair mask "Frizz- Ease, miraculous recovery" and on dry hair: Frizz-Ease, secret agent, it's a finishing creme. It helps to make my hair more smooth and less jumpy and frizzy. It's not one of the cheapest, but not one of the most expensive products either. But when you find something that works, you should hold on to it. I'm prepared to pay the money for it, if it works! Good luck!

Hmm...Well, I have simliar hair and have found that Curls Rock works really well. it's about 14 bucks, comes in a blue container and you can buy it a most salons. Good luck and good job for wanting to rock your natural beauty!! :)
