Is it normal to almost always have some kind of vaginal discharge? The amount changes depending on the time of month but I almost always have something. It also changes from white to clear from thick to thin. This has been going on for about a year and a half, (I'm only 17) and I've only had sex twice, both times within the last month and both times protected so is an STD still an option? I've read about tract infections and yeast infections but I don't have any other kinds of symptoms.
So is this normal? Or should I get checked out?

I've had the same thing since I was about 13. Been to the doctors many times, had numerous unpleasant swabs and tests, and no infection. It's known as a 'physiological discharge', some women just get it. I'm actually really glad to see it's not that uncommon as I get really self-conscious :P I just wear little pantyliners (like Carefree) inbetween periods. I'm always terrified that guys will freak out at the pantyliners but so far none have been bothered (I've slept with 4 people, all whilst in relationships with them). Explaining to a guy is always cringeworthy though.

Funnily enough, I was getting really upset about the discharge just the other night, and my boyfriend was reassuring me that plenty of other women will have it (as proven) and he's really not bothered.

Do go and see your doctor though, just to make sure there's nothing there.

I've had the same situations for a few years, and I've only had a boyfriend for one, but we don't have sex. I wouldn't worry about it. It's really annoying, though!

I really don't think its a STD, I have the same situation, periods of thicker and other of fewer and so on, I've had sex also twice only and it was around 6 months ago, but I remember I had it since before. What I read is that you should be careful with sugar, cauz it sometimes can change the amount and pH of your intimate zones. Also if you notice some tiny lumps, then you have to worry about an infection. But in my opinion it's not a STD...

Unless your discharge turns yellow or brown it's normal. Extreme foul smelling discharge is a sign of infection also. And I am not talking about your normal oder, we all have a scent, it's also what triggers chemicals in men's brain's that makes them more attracted to us. It's also your body doing it's self cleaning. NBD. If you have a yeast infection you would know it. It's VERY itchy and uncomfortable, was your hands and stick two fingers up there and if they come out looking very similar to cottage cheese then go buy some over the counter medication. Yeast infections are not STDs. you can get them by washing yourself too much, if you use soap every night stop and start using it once every 3 days, better yet just used water. DRY DRY DRY down there after showers. Moist hot secluded areas are a breading ground for bacteria and will cause yeast infections.

And yes, you can get an STD even with protection, Like herpes. it's all over the genital area and if it touches you anywhere near your va-ja-ja, well you get the point. Anyway I know there are a few more STD's like that I'd say google it.
