I'm going on vacation next week -- leaving my laptop and worries behind -- it's been a few years since I've had time for just myself and I'd love to pick up a few good reads to bring with me. Any good book recommendations? I prefer fiction but I'd be open to a non-fiction book too. Thanks in advance ladies!

Diary of a Manhatten Call girl and it sequals by Nancy Quan are a good read.

City of the Beasts, Kingdom of the Golden Dragon & Forest of the Pygmies – all by Isabel Allende :)
They're kind of a mix between fiction and the real world, and City of the Beasts is really summer-ish :D
Northern Lights/The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife & The Amber Spyglass by Philip Pullman are also books I recommend :) You can buy them in one book or in three - at least that's possible here in Norway :)

I like The Looking Glass Wars trilogy by Frank Beddor, if you like Alice in Wonderland through a completely different perspective. I also like the Mortal Elements trilogy by Cassandra Clare, it's more fae but it's very mystery at the same time. Also, there's the Luxe novels by Anna Godbersen. They're set in New York back when classes were very much alive and follow the trials of several girls and what they have to do to get love, lose love, get fame, and try to be rid of it. Howl's Moving Castle and its sequels Diana Wynne Jones are good as well if you're in the mood for a lighthearted read.

I hope these give you some good ideas! Enjoy your vacation!

well it kinda depends what type of book you like to read.....if its fantasy you like then NORTHERN LIGHTS, THE SUBTLE KNIFE and THE AMBER SPYGLASS are amazing books. Also THE AMULET OF SAMARKAND and the two books to follow are great reads too.
