Is it normal for periods to take a drastic change all of a sudden? I started my period when I was 12, and I got off really lucky because I never cramped up. I never had PMS, I never ached, got bloated, or got pissy. I'm 18 now, and my period is going nuts. The cycle is totally sporadic. I've gone from 21 to 42 days in between, and the flow is actually getting lighter. I've started actually getting PMS and get pretty nasty cramps and attitude. I'm pretty sure finally getting PMS is normal, since I figured my years of uncramped bliss wouldn't last long. But sometimes I don't feel whiped out, but last month I was too exhausted to even kneed the bread dough I was making. My mom's slightly concerned about this and wants to take me to a gyno, but she wants to find a good one before we do anything. I'm concerned too, but mainly because I just want to know what the eff is going on! It wasn't gradual, it all just kind of started earlier this year. I've had a boyfriend since last summer, but we don't have sex. I've heard that can impact it. Any ideas?

i heard that if you exposed to cold weather or if you drink cold drinks
your period will impact badly
or if you wash your body during the period ...
that's all what i know

Well, I suggest you ask your gyno if it could be Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). I had the same problem as you. Do it as soon as possible.

That...might actually do it. I didn't spend much time with my friends this year.

It could also be if you have recently changed which women you spend a lot of time around, I know that the summer I turned eighteen and headed off to college, before I left my periods were very off and on, but being around a group of girls my body readjusted, not only to a different cycle date, but to a lighter flow, and a shorter time, so it could also be from changing up your lifestyle that way too :)

I don't think my diet has changed much since it changed. I'm not on any birth control, and the only real stress I've had started after my cycle went nuts. I haven't changed sanitary products, and I got my braces off last year. I haven't had any physical changes.
We got a recommendation on a gyno from the family physician, so hopefully I can get to see her soon. I can throw my feelings of discomfort aside if I can get some answers XD I just looked up the moon cup and it doesn't look like it's available for delivery in my country :/ Using the usual pad doesn't bother me, especially since it's getting lighter. Thanks for your help!

apparently periods can shift around till your in your early 20s,and even after that they can change after childbirth, etc. or just cos they feel like it. :P
i don't know its a huge cause for concern if they change, but obviously its a cause for concern if its affecting your health and all.
have you changed you diet at all? gone on any kind of birth control? changed lifestyle significantly? sounds weird, but have you changed the kind of sanitary products you use. (this can make a suprising difference) have you, say, had braces put on? or put you back/hips or whatever out and are having any kind of trouble physically? i know things like this can make a difference for me.

aside form any of that, i would say that if your worried, go to a gyno... its what they are there for. and while it might not be comfortable.... nor is PMS and awful periods!!
another thing i can recomend is the mooncup, its a sanitary product, and has helped my periods immensely!

anyhow... hope it goes fine for you...
