Over the past three months, me and a few of my roommates have been frustrated with our other roommate. She likes the apartment SUPER cold, and because of that, our utility bill is higher than my parents bill. She won't budge on the temperature and won't compromise either. Also, she and the girl who shares a room with her refuse to help keep the apartment clean. We tried writing up a job chart, but they took their names off. The bathroom is disgusting--you can't even see the countertop anymore. What should I do??

not sure where you live that you need to have the air on in the past 3 months, obviously not the US, and if so SHE IS CRAZY! Get with your roommate and explain that you guys can't afford to use ac to such extremes unless she is willing to foot the bill, because you and your other roommates would rather have it hot than pay money to have it cool. She will a, be fine with this or b, freak out. If b, tell her to move out.

If you have exhausted all of you options and trying to make things work with your roommate then it is time to move out. I would not live with someone who doesn't respect me or willing to compromise on chores and the temperature. It will be a lot harder to make it on your own, but there are some small apartments that will do just for you and you will be able to live the way you want.
