Also I used garnier color shield. It last the color for about 3 months and keeps your hair healthy and soft (I have super long hair which gets damaged easily). I stopped using it only about 2 months ago and I still have some hair color left in my hair (a little tint of red), and it has been almost a year. It really works!

Box treatment does fade faster, but it is better when testing out a color you are unsure of. Trust me! Because if you go to a stylist and the color looks bad on you, you will REALLY regret spending that 60+ dollars for getting it colored. Compared to the 14 dollars for about 1 or two boxes of hair dye. Especially if it is a dark color and you end up needing to pay even more to get it redone.

GO TO A HAIR STYLIST, I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH.
Box dye, is just old product no longer used in salons repackaged and sold to you!
This is why your hair is ALWAYS better when being treated by a stylist,
Get good hair treatment from your stylist before you leave too!!

I usually use Vo5 shampoo and conditioners and then when i am goin to dry/ straighten my hair I'll spray it with a treseme heat defence spray and it goes really shiney but not greasy and keeps the colour in.

I use shampoo and conditioner from my local salon. They have a website though, and I swear by their hair products. I color my hair about once a month and I wouldn't dream of using any other product. It's call "Fantastic Sams" I HIGHLY recommend it.

Don't always trust salons and their hair color. I had mine done a week ago and the color is already almost gone from half my hair

I dont need hair color, but my mom does! She's been using L'oreal for redheads for probably 10 years! It works great for her!

If you have a sally beauty supply in your area, get your hair color from there. They are open to the public and most of the employees can explain how to use, and recommend shampoos to use. I prefer wella, which I get at sallys ( I work there) Try to stay away from the colors you can get at walmart, target, etc. Because they are metallic dyes and that will ruine your hair. I personally like to use the ION shampoo for color treated hair, you could also go to (if in your area) trade secret, they have a good variety of color safe shampoos. If you dye your hair red you can get just for red shampoo that helps keep it in longer. If your doing "crazy" colors (blue, green, etc.) use color safe shampoo and try not to wash your hair everyday, and when you do use luke-warm or cold water.
