Over the last few years I've realized that I'm "too nice" and people seem to take advantage of this. What can I do to overcome this?

Be upfront & honest with people as politely as you can. But being honest & saying no is ok.

When I was younger I would always say yes when people asked for help & thought "im such a good person" thinking that when I needed help those same people would be around for me. Not such the case, now a little older & wiser I realize that I need to stop & consider if I really am bale to help others if it doesnt affect or take away from my family & the time I have for me. I still help others regardless if it will come back to me in the future but I pick & choose how much Im able to help without it being an unhealthy choice that will affect my life.

i often find this as well even found it with an organisation, i tend to not realise untill its gone too far.
i think learning to say no and setting boundaries for what you do for people. you can still be nice and say no at same time, if they're your friends, they will be ok, with you saying no.
