I get so emotional when I am on my period, and I get the worst cramps, almost to where I feel like vomiting. My roommates understand to stand their guard when I am like this, and so do my girlfriends, but one of my best guy friends does not get that I need my space, especially during this time. I end up freaking out at him and feel so bad later! What should I do, and how do you get rid of cramps and being so emotional?

Maybe next time you're around him and feel yourself getting emotional and ready to lash out, try to take a deep breath and recognize that something's wrong and you need a moment. That way you stay aware it's happening and maybe can stop it from happening. Try any relaxation tips in the moment or say in your head, "it's not his fault, I don't have to lash out." Sometimes all we need is a little pause before we yell at someone!

Regular exercise has helped my periods be less severe. As far as the emotional part, that's a tough one, I get that way too, but there are natural remedies at stores like Whole Foods & health food stores too. Check into them. A heated pad on your abdomen can help with bad cramps...& some people get relief by going on birth control pills. I hope this helps a bit.

I'm sorry! I know that working out and trying to eat healthy helps me feel more normal. I know no one wants to eat salads and all that crap when all they really want to eat is a tub of ice cream topped with a box of oreos, but it really does work. I try to go on a walk or take yoga to calm myself down. I hope this helps!

I have the exact same problem and feel so lost. I keep lashing out at my bf when there's no reason for it and he doesn't understand. He thinks it's his fault... :( I'd love to know what people think. Thx.
