Okay, so I was thinking about dying my hair a few different colors. Please dont get on me about my color choices, but I want to go with light blue, light green, light pink, and light purple. I know you have to bleach your hair but I've never done that before and I'm hoping to get some tips on that, and how to dye your hair multiple colors (never done that before either! obviously :) )

I want to leave most of it brown (its natural color) with strands of other colors everywhere. Its length is about to my shoulders. I've had problems with my hair drying out before but I found a conditioner that works really well and helps keep it healthy, so I'm not worried about that.

What hair dyes is best used? How much does it usually cost to do it all yourself (in USD please)? How much time does it usually take to get done?

Thank you for the help!

Walk into a Sally store and ask them
Trust me.
I got coon tails. [i did them myself]
And I was gonna bleach my hair
And the lady gave me this hair dye that brought my hair up 5 levels.
And I didn't need to bleach [:

So walk into a Sally store, they really know what theyy're doing

the only way to remove color is by bleaching.. which it sounds like is not a good choice for you.. your best bet is to dye it back a natural shade of brown.. and let it grow out.... sorry i know you say it takes forever to grow.. but trust me.. its the best way ..

i dye my hair purple n have it done professionally. im trying to grow it out coz i cant remember what my natural colour is like (all i know is brown) and my bf has never seen my natural colour. the thing is my hair takes AGES to grow (maybe 4inches a year if im lucky) i had my hair dyed brown but it faded back to the red that purple fades to. does anyone have any advice on how to make my hair grow faster? or how to remove the colour?

years of coloring my hair has KILLED its natural texture, luster and bounce. this summer I let all of my dyed hair grow out so it is truely natural. so to keep it interesting, i bought clip in extenstions. ones to lengthen and some colorful ones. i can put them in take them out, have short or long hair and its awesome to have such changable hair every day. if you get some plain extentions at a beauty supply store they arent too expensive and have them professionally dyed the hair will last forever (if you take care of them) and it is one purchase. extensions are esay to put in with a touch of practice but i like them so much more than spending the money in the salon and damaging my hair with drug store treatments. try them out!

Don't bleach at home, go to a salon. I've seen my friends destroy their hair that way.

But keep in mind you will have to dye your hair bi-weekly to keep the blue and green looking good. Those two colors fade fast as a mother fucker!! I've had blue hair for over 2 years and finaly gave in and got blue extensions so I didn't have to dye it anymore but those were a pain too. I'm blonde now. To lazy and poor to keep up the color. lol

Good luck! Make sure you use a color safe shampoo. VERY important! Let me know how it works out!

If i do get my hair done i think i am gonna get it professionally done : )

I have some of those clip ons but they just dont work out the same. Its hard to make them flow the way your hair does..

Okay coming from a stylist, PLEASE do not try this yourself! IF you are really set on this you need to lighten the hair to a pale yellow first and most at home bleach jobs come out orange. My personal recomendation would be not to do it if your hair is already prone to dryness it will get much worse and the colors colors you want will fade and very quickly. It will be a mess. I would suggest the clip in hair extensions they are simple, safe, come in every immaginable color and are only about $3 at beauty stores such as sally's.
