Your question

I am going to be moving to a different state in a year, and I've been looking at my possible living arrangements...moving in with people etc. A recent plan that has come to mind is to invest in buying my first home. I don't know how to prepare and I want to know where to go for the right protection in buying my first home, and is 21 too young? Where should I start?

How am I sure of the right career? They all kinda involve helping people so I'm pretty sure I want to help but it's deciding. I like to think I'm confident and my grades say I can do pretty much anything but I need help. Talking to my family hasn't really helped so...
Midwife?
Language teacher?
RAF Officer?
(Although Im not active at the moment I know I can get fit enough to join in 2 years)
All the pay is good and the pensions are too but I really cant decide :(

Your question

I'm about to move in with a few of my friends this summer... and my boyfriend. I am almost 20, going to school and working part time and I need to move out soon because my family, who I am currently living with, are moving out of state and I want to stay here (California) to go to school. I'm really freaked out though because everyone is telling me it will be horrible living with friends and a boyfriend and that it might ruin our relationship. However, I don't like the idea of moving in with strangers, and I will need as many roommates as I can get because living in California is expensive. I'm also pretty scared about making money and being independent (as far as not having my family to support me goes) but I know at some point in my life I will need to do this and I don't want to miss the new opportunity that this move presents.
I really need some advice on how I can keep my cool in this situation and find some strategies to make living with my friends and boyfriend not so hectic, or more organized. Any advice please?

Your question

Hey, ladies! I've been thinking about moving out for awhile now, but I'm so lost! I feel embarrassed asking my friends about it, and my parents would refuse to even discuss the matter. I've been doing some research, but the whole thing still seems so confusing to me. Rent, bills, utilities? Gah! I've never had to take care of any of this myself before. I'm starting to think I just won't be able to handle it. I only make minimum wage (which is $8.00 an hour where I live). I'm aware that doesn't make things easy, but I'll have a room mate, and I'm not very high maintenance. We wouldn't bother with things like cable or a land line. Just internet and cell phones.

So I guess my question is...how did you prepare/adjust to moving out? What are some things you wish you had known beforehand? Was it difficult to make ends meet?

Any wisdom or guidance is appreciated!

Your question

I've been seriously considering leaving my job lately because I'm not doing too well there and I'm pretty sure no one likes me. I have almost no motivation to get the work done there, probably because I don't like the work they're giving me. This is causing problems because I'm a web developer for a design firm and I have to fill out a timesheet for the work I did for clients each day. I do want to do web development for the rest of my life, but I think I entered the field too early and with not enough experience. (I'm 22, I started working in the field when I was 19.) At this rate, I fear I may be fired. I would rather quit before that happens.

I interviewed at a Chase bank today and believe I have a very good chance of being hired there as a part time teller. I've wanted to work at a bank before, but honestly, my dream is to start my own business.

Does anyone else think I should make this move and make an effort to build my business while working part time? I do have obligations like rent and car payments, but life is short, right?

Your question

Ladies, I need your advice desperately. I am living on only what I get from financial aid and desperately need a job. I've been frantically searching for a job for over a year now but absolutely nothing is working out. I need a job that has flexible hours because I am a full-time student and if I drop below full-time I lose my financial aid. I don't know if I need to adjust my resume or maybe write different things on job applications or what. Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated, please.

Your question

I work with this supervisor who keeps giving me a hard time at work. Me and him have had problems before. He's very arrogant and doesn't know how to talk to people. The other day I didn't pay him any mind and I was doing my job. He gets upset when I'm not all into him and he tries to be find a reason to be mean but he doesn't have one. Now I just found out he's trying to write me up for something I didn't do. I've tried to avoid any conflict but he keeps starting with me and he keeps slandering me to my other co-workers. I don't know what to do or how to approach this situation.

Your question

I have just been hired at Hollister as a member of the part time impact team. I have been googling and searching around to some tips about what you do and how to do your job the best, and a lot of people say they hire the unattractive people for this position. That kind of hurt and took a blow to myself seeing so many people say that. Do you really think they put me on part time impact because I look unattractive? And am I just being paranoid? I know I will work my hardest for them no matter what because that is what I believe in, but still wondering.
